I see alot of BMWs with Bridgestones. Having trucks and my old Gran Sport, high speed performance and handling are not major issues. Sounds like you got alot of well informed suggestions. CS is such a great place

I am pretty pleased with the 330 and glad I didn't go with the 325.
The extra horsepower really gives it some pep. The car is probably the fastest I have ever had. Although I was tempted and came close to getting the M, all that power frankly scared me. Not that I was afraid to drive it but rather I was afraid I would use it.
225 is all I need on that guy to get me serious tickets.
Bad enough we already drive at 80 in Florida. Don't need any more pep to get me locked up.

330's are also very nice, a huge step up from the 325 IMO.

Re: tire brands for sports car?

How long are you hoping the tires will last? Do you drive in lots of rain or any snow? Do you attend any track days, auto-x or drags?

One good comparison tool is the treadware rating of the tire. It tells you how hard/soft the compound is. A harder compund will obviously last much longer, but not offer the grip for acceleration or corning that a softer tire will. Here's the catch; there is no standard between manufacturers as to the rating system. SO, look at each twr with a grain of salt.

Other than that, if you do much rain or any snow driving, make sure the tire is rated for that. Driving on snow with summer-only tires is scary!(first-hand experience and curb rash speaking here)

I'm with you on this one, I've had my 330 for six months and it just flies! I added the sport package and with the suspension and engine/trans combo it drives great!!

On the subject, the Bridgestones Potenza RE series are a good choice, I've got them on my 911 and my 330. The only knock is that on the 911, they have a tendency to lane wander at about 75 mph, but at faster speeds they seem to be fine.

Does make a difference.

Is the sports package the one that makes the seats uncomfortable?

I drove the 330 without the sport package and I noticed that the handling was a little tighter with the sport package. Keep in mind that with stiffer suspension and lower profile tires that you do give up some ride comfort.

They are not "uncomfortable" they are more like a new baseball glove, a little hard to get used to but once you break it in, you have a hard time giving it up.

Either that or I've developed callouses on my ass

The seats also have that extension part in the front, right below your knees.
Also has the vertically adjustable lumbar support but don't know if that comes with the other models.

No doubt you give up ride comfort due to the larger rim size/lower profile tires but boy does it handle nicely. Also a pain as the tires in the rear are wider and lower profile than the front ones so you can't rotate them. Love the way that car literally turns on a dime thanks to the rear wheel drive.

Does anyone have the stabilizer bar they sell to strap the two shock towers together? It is about $350 and is supposed to make the car tighter, specially on a convertible.

Re: tire brands for sports car?

my CI has the sport package.. I think the seats are okay.. in 2000 anyway they took out the adjustable lumbar support in the sport seats. The ride is a little stiffer but it is still good. It's a BMW you want to feel the road. If don't want to feel the road get a Buick..

I have the factory Conntinetals on mine
