There is no way someone like this can compete with people who post in almost every thread.

How does this make us closer as a community?

just my

almost time to donate my CS bux again.
If I remember correctly, Most of the members werent picked on at all during the last CUT war..... just the ones that like to mess with each other...and kwagga

I don't even understand what these new "points" and "bux" are meant for. We still keep our ring gauge, trade rating, and post numbers, so I don't get exactly what the new stuff is for. It just takes up space on the left side, which means all the short 5-line responses take half a page to view.

That is just my opinion and it's in alignment with some of the other posts I've made regarding how pursuit of rewards and status in any given community -- virtual or otherwise -- can influence behavior -- and not always for the better. But the decision has been made and I respect that. Good and bad in most choices in life.
I tend to agree with you. I guess it will keep the 20 something crowd happy for a while.

Excellent point. In the past it was just one line. Something PDS might be able to tweak once things settle down with the upgrade.

Haven't signed on for about 12 hours, and there are 10 pages of new posts! Usually only 4-5 pages...

I think the credits are a good thing. Sure we're gonna get some people whoring it up like never before but I've already seen some CSBux deducted already and I know that after a little while if the whoring thing continues that Gorilla will get a nice stern warning to tone it the F*** down (kinda like I did in the beginning).

However what it adds to this site is a little more fun and frivolity and a better sense of the word community. Things like the CUT wars and messing with other Gorilla's Pics and Information brings us closer together by being able to laugh and joke with one another. Hell we do plenty of that anyway but this just gives us another avenue to do it. I guess it just brings more of a sense of comradery to CS and that's always a good thing.

Plus it adds some fun and distracting things for when you've read too many "Cello On or Off" threads. The arcade is back and better than ever and I know plenty of people, including Anita, really appreciate that.

So I guess, no the return of the credits is definitely not a bad thing as the positive's outweight the initial rush to post whore.

I agree that it allowed us to do a lot of fun stuff before, and prolly will again. But I have also had a couple long time members say, lemme know when it calms down and I'll be back. lets hope it does soon

Were credits the right thing to do? Who cares.......if someone is post-whoring for credits, sooner or later they will tire of it or everybody else will and it will be dealt with. Either way it is no big deal.

maybe its not a big deal to you, but when friends I known for years here say I'm outta here for now, its a big deal to me when they are driven off by post whoring newbies...but hey, if people want it to be a newbie fest, so be it

I was OK without them - I think I'll try and wait out the nonsense. For a little while anyway.

The post whoring has been at an unacceptable level. The credits were meant to add fun to the forum, not cause this mass newbage to get points. Sucks the fun right the hell out of it imho, besides pissing off other older members. And there are plenty of other senior members that should have known better. Talk about setting the tone

There has to be some penalties for this gross post whoring. Sure I can RG and all, but not very much and not very often lol.

Sorry if it seems harsh, but I don't come here for points, or cut wars, I come here cause I like the people. Seeing folks taking breaks because of this makes me angry too, especially over something as stupid as the credits being abused.

I couldn't disagree more.

Post whoring is silly, it's bad enough when there are bananas and ring gauge fishers. Credits and all the cute things you can do with them are inane. This board is a hang out for me, not a contest.

Arcade, fine.. it's fun. But now we have to jump through hoops to play it.

I'd just enjoy donating a few dollars for the new server and hanging out instead of this rigmarole.

Re: Was credits the right thing?

There are existing threads for post whoring. I would really appreciate it if some people went to the "banter" thread for instance and engaged in the chat there in lieu of starting a bunch of new pointless topics.

While I am well known for the position "if you don't want to read it, don't click the thread"; the amount of pointless threads is now affecting the way many people read and access Club Stogie. It needs to stop.

I am free with +RG and pretty much reach my maximum allowed to give every day; so I have no reservations about going on a ding rampage.. I am going to start dinging RG to people who are making posts simply for the credits.
