At the same time, we can make it so nobody gets points for posting. If people are posting for points, that would fix it.

Re: Was credits the right thing?

I actually enjoy the CS Bux, I think, personally, the Post Whores should be dealt with on a personal basis. If I am post whoring, please tell me so and I will try and cut down on my posting. I am sure that if you called out most people, while it may make them embaressed, it would also make them realize, hey, people don't like that.

The CSBux, while not the main focus of this board, is always fun and provides for great entertainment. CUT Wars are good, wholesome fun (esp. when they come from CBF in the form of a jab, lol i'll get you buddy) but I don't think bux should be taken away because a few people can't handle it...

Re: Was credits the right thing?

Can't make everyone happy all of the time.

Can't ever make some happy and they let you know about it loudly.

If one man's enjoyment is another man's irritation then that is a problem. The problem however, is easy to solve. Don't look in the threads/forums that are being whored up if it bothers you. If you are one of the post whores, expect folks to ding your RG which may be no big thing to you but you should expect it. You may miss out on "interesting cigar things" because you are viewed as an irritant as opposed to a participant in this "cigar discussion forum".

Thoughts for the post whores and bitchers:

Many who seem to be complaining the loudest or whoring the most might want to review their own last 20, 50, 100 posts for "cigar content" vs whining or whoring here. Both groups contain a few vocal weenies offering little cigar content if you ask me.

Personally I have fond memories of the interaction and fun we had with credits in the past. Would like to see some time given to see if things settle down a bit. Not a huge issue one way or the other for me though.

I, personally, don't care what people talk about as long as it's relevent to the forum topic. Not a lot of cigar talk in the "entertainment forum", but not a lot of whoring going on there either (usually).

Re: Was credits the right thing?

Why not give credits or some kind of reward for quality posts. The ring thing was ok, but more often that not, it became a popularity contest depending on the person posting. If we had some consistent process for rewarding something that educates or elucidates, that would be a great contribution for us all.

I've got to say, just looking at the last few pages in this very thread proves that it is not possible to simply ignore threads that contain fluff. Many threads of some importance and with relevant content have been used by post whores to gain cs bux, although PDS has now addressed this.

I too like the idea of increased interaction amongst members and I like the bux system. The increased post whoring, however, certainly seems to be a direct result of the bux system and this I find to be more than a little bothersome.

As far as my own post record is concerned, yes, I have made posts in the past that did not contribute significantly to the thread at hand but not so many as to be labaled a post whore. Believe it or not, I have nothing against post whoring, not until it pushes relevant posts to the forum's second page within hours or bogs down threads that have some educational or entertainment value.

Re: Was credits the right thing?

I don't mind post whoring in general.....some ppl with a lot of posts here have some interesting and funny things to say.
I do mind all the threads on "what should I do"....
Asking for information is one thing.....but dang...if you are an adult make up your own mind on what to smoke tonight....etc..etc...ad nauseum.

It seems to have gotten a bit ridiculous lately.

Then again....who cares what I think?

That would require a person "at the switch" & then you'd have ppl saying "hey! that was a quality post, why didn't I get points?"
