Re: WSOP on ESPN

jamie gold got hit with the deck indeed. that dude talks a lot. i've heard a couple interviews with him, and he basically says he bluffed his way through the whole tournament. not sure how much of his story i believe..

have you seen his legal issues? he still can't collect his prize from what i've heard

Gold just could not lose a hand. One of our local boys place 11th and won 1.2 million. Eric Leaf. 23 yr. old FSU student. Must be nice.

Re: WSOP on ESPN

Jamie Gold's problem arises from the fact that he verbally agreed to split any money he won..50/50.

A business partner helped Gold get Celebs to play the WSOP in exchange for Bodog giving them one paid seat. The business partner agreed to let Gold play the Tourney in exchange for half the winnings (Very slim chance of any money at the onset of this 9,000 person tourney). So basically both were on a freeroll.

Well it becomes apparent that gold is going to cash...and cash big. So the business partner calls him to confirm the aggreement. I guess they miss each other and Gold calls him back and leaves a message sying that the deal is still on and that he is going to get half.

Well Gold wins 12 million and then says there was never an agreement... but the business partner kept the answering machine message.

The Court has sided with the Business partner and froze the $$...

Do any of you guys play online poker?

I play some..mainly at Bodog...but I wouldn't recommend starting up online. You play more hands and because of that and the overall weak level of play...equals some horrible bad beats...Then you have it in the back of your mind if the sites are truely legit

I play on Full Tilt, same name, but I don't play for real cash, unless I'm sitting across from you, in which case I lose anyway.

Re: WSOP on ESPN

i do, same name on full tilt and poker room. i just recently signed up on party, but i'm not liking their software too much.

I love playing poker. just wish i was good at it!

Jamie might've gotten away with the $$ if he had just collected it all right away. from what i heard, the funds weren't frozen until a day or two later when the lawsuit was filed.

Re: WSOP on ESPN

Jamie Gold was in fear of getting arrested for representing an online poker site. Techincally..Online poker is like Cuban cigars...Illegal.

Days befoe the WSOP...THE CEO of bet on usa was arrested as he tried to board a plane.

Bodog CEO Calvin Ayre promtply cancelled a conference slated for the WSOP week because he is on the list that the US wants...Word was he was sure to be picked up

Well. Gold represented Bodog and he was in Fear... he shouldn't have been...The US wants the big fish (pun intended).

since then another CEO was been arrested (Paradise Poker) ...(These guys really need to stay away from US Soil as the Gov. is after them)

Re: WSOP on ESPN

I used to play party poker but deleted it because I spent to much time on it instead of doing my school work, but now I have CS to keep me occupied and away from studies.
