Re: I can't believe this hasn't been brought up.

I honestly think that transfats need to be banned in food altogether or else be more easily labeled. Right now products that contain less than 1 g of the substance can legally label it as having 0 g of Trans Fats. However all that means is less than a full gram per serving- and if you eat more than one serving a day you end up pulling in trans fats. And if it is something you eat every day....it adds up as you can see.

Basically it turns to plastic in your body- very hard to digest and flush out...

Bad stuff.

And the thing is guys- this won't stop krispy kremes or french fries or whatever. It will require the makers of these products to make them out of higher quality ingredients- which will mean a healthier product- and quite possibly a better tasting product.

Re: I can't believe this hasn't been brought up.

WTF! That is an outrage. OK, total bans on smoking inside public places I kind of understand. This is absolutely ridiculous. When someone tells me what I can and can't EAT, not do(IE smoke), in a restraunt, I think that goes a little too far.

I am all for the labels and I agree that there is nothing good about Trans fats.

But how often do healthier and better tasting really end up together? It's like the odd couple of food. I am all for labeling however, and as far as I know that is starting to get better.

Re: I can't believe this hasn't been brought up.

Dear dipshits,

Cucumbers, chicken breast, peaches, etc.......good for you

Fries, doughnuts, deep fried suet.....bad for you

If you want to be healthy, choose from group one. If you want it to taste good, choose from group two.

While they are a danger, trans fatty acids are not nearly as dangerous as the knives and forks we use every day. We should only allow spoons, or at the very least we should provide clear warning labels (using pictures only, of course), to warn people of the dangerous edges and tines. And don’t even get me started on toothpicks! Why those weren’t outlawed ages ago I’ll never know.

Priorities people, priorities!

Re: I can't believe this hasn't been brought up.

I guess I might as well just put that popcorn thing in my signature.

Of course it would be organic corn (grown without the use of cruel scarecrows), unbuttered, and with a light dusting of pure Dandi salt.
