Henry versus The Mod Squad...

Why am I up at 4:30 a.m. on a Saturday?

Well, it has to do with Henry (whose antics are well-documented on the "Cigar Products - Reviews" forum).

Henry is a nasty old fart. He doesn't like people, in general. But he does like cigars and fishing.

And so, I'm heading down to his place shortly with a cottage-cheese container full of redworms and my fishing rod. We'll settle into the row-boat, and make our way out to the drop-off, where the big bluegill and crappie hang out.

There's something special about these early-morning fishing trips with Henry. The sound of oars hitting the water, and the water trickling from them on the up-stroke... The sound of Canada Geese in V-formation, heading South for the winter... But most of all, the feeling of being "in sync" with the pace of nature.

"We'll be out of here before the Mod Squad get's here," Henry will say, referring to the fleet of bass boats that descend upon the lake at sunrise.

Come 7:30 a.m., the fish will be sizzling in the pan, we'll enjoy some fresh coffee, we'll stuff our bellies full of the fried goodies, we'll chuckle at the bass boats screaming across the lake at blazing speed, and we'll talk about cigars.

Life doesn't get much better!
