Homemade active humidifier

With my current humidor i cannot fit an oasis so i decided to make an active humidifier. Cost under $10.00 to make an works perfectly. It pulls the air in one side and across oasis foam saturated with 50/50 solution and out the other. Total dimensions are 6" long x 2" wide x 1.5" tall. I also have an electronics timer that I am going to hook it all up to this weekend so I can program the on/off cycles.

Let us know how it works out.
I use the cigar oasis with one fan and it works great in my cabinet.

It works better than I could have imagined! My cigars have never tasted or smelled fresher or better... I hooked up the digital timer & set it to come on every other hour for about 10 min. It took awhile to get the settings to where the min/max reading on the digital hygrometer were within 3% (67-70) but it was worth it...

Wow, that's pretty cool! One thing I'm not too clear on ... do you have it rigged up so that the fan turns on when humidity falls below a certain level?

Very clever.

no... you would need a humidistat for doing that and all the ones I found were too large so I just use an electronic timer (one that you plug a lamp into for when you are away from home for a long period of time) that has 96 on/off settings per week. So, it lets me turn it on and off up to 12 times per day at any time for any period of time. It took some adjusting, but using the min/max readings from my digital hygrometer I got it set to where it will stay within about 3%.... this seems to work just as well

My VCR has been blinking 12:00 for the last two years. I am impressed!
