Bad Back? Bean Bag Wrap is Bueno.

I hurt my back - ow. Cold-packs on and off all day help, but cold-packs are a pain to keep in place. Our factory sewing supervisor made this thing for me yesterday - sometimes it helps to have a bulletproof vest factory.

It's fantastic. She took two widths of 4" wide elastic and tacked them together, then she added wide velcro on each end. She took a kitchen towel and cut it into a pouch the perfect size for holding a two-pound bag of frozen lima beans.

Beans slide into the towel/pocket, Velcro-close the towel flap, wrap around waist. When my back is frozen, the whole thing comes off and goes into the freezer until next use. Perfect. Cheap.

FYI if you want some heat therapy, I can recommend ThermaCare. After moving brick all day, it worked like a champ. Alternatively, you could make a cloth bag full of buckwheat hulls that would fit your contraption. The buckwheat hulls can be put in the microwave and will hold heat well.

Pretty neat. After years of dealing with my worn out back - ThermaCare, heating pads, etc etc - I found a new, faster and longer lasting way - Darvocet -

That kinda stuff works wonders! Im wishing I had it now.. I played volleyball for the first time in 6 years and Im really hurting this AM!

I play volleyball every Thursday after work, and I'm always hurting the next AM. Something about bad knees and a bad neck and upper back, but I gotta keep playing. So much fun!

If you also need massages and stuff, I'd recommend getting a TheraCane (www.theracane.com). It's basically a stick that's cured at one end with various places to induce pressure on your muscles. You can reach just about any part of your body with it, and with a minimal amount of force really get deep into the tissues.
