I just went threw she knocked it off the vanity and right down the sink. GONE. Nothing to do to get it back. Ins paid for most of it but make sure you talk to the insurance company about it. (She has the replacment ring and if I still ask her about it she crys)

All right i will get off the soap box

BUT

in your case, doesn't the sink have a trap?

I looked we have an old house. It went bye bye as much as it pains me to say.
But thanks for the idea.

Whatever you do, do not take out jewelery store credit for the ring. I have seen too many times where a person had cash for the ring, and then opened up the card with the purchase instead. Sounds great, still have $ in your pocket and the ring. When the credit limit came out for the card it was LESS than the purchase of the ring. Therefore right out of the gate they have a brand new card that is now over the limit. Kills your credit.

That's why you get approved BEFORE you purchase a ring. Then you know your limit.

I pay everyday... I used a CC that I had a good rate on to finance it for a short time...

Re: How did you pay for the engagement ring?

the least amount of debt you carry into a marriage the better. time it out so it is paid before the wedding date. that said, i was lucky, i inherited a beautiful antique platinum and diamond ring from my great grandmother, just had to get it resized. still you don't need to carry any extra financial burden into a new marriage, especially for something as trivial (romance aside) as jewelry.

Re: How did you pay for the engagement ring?

I paid $500 for my wifes ring, she told me what she wanted, and I got her what I could afford. She knows how much it cost, and she loves it. It was bought at the Tustin Jewelry exchange, and recently appraised for $1500.. I got a decent deal. I am going to upgrade her middle stone (3 stone ring) to a bigger stone in a few years when we can afford it. I spent $25 on her actual wedding band (Tustin Jewlery exchange again) for the one that SHE picked out. My wedding band cost $17 on ebay and got engraved for free.

Re: How did you pay for the engagement ring?

I think I paid around 1500 from a jewelry house owned by relatives, 14 years ago. This was hella lotta money for me at the time but I paid cash for it and would advise anyone to do the same. As has been said, love don't count dollars or carats.

I actually proposed with a stand in, my mom's engagement ring that she no longer wore since the folks got matching bands a while back. Then the wife-to-be and I went to the relatives shop, money in hand and chose the best we could get with the money in the hand.

About a year ago she lost the set so... cash money brother and congratulations in advance.
