Veterans Represent Your Unit!

Have seen prior threads about what your MOS was or where stationed, but nothing about our units. So in honor of tomorrow, step up brothers and sisters. As for me:

They have a lot in common. They are both basically rescue/salvage/tow and diver platforms if I am correct. We may have breathed some of the same salt air. I have spent many a night on the fantail enjoying a smoke (albeit cigarettes back then).

Yep Yep. The Chilula was a navy sea going tug before being handed over to the CG. We used it for drug operations down south and fisheriers patrols up north. It was decommissioned in the early 90's. I remember towing a bunch of broken fishing boats in some pretty heavy seas and was on one drug bust that had 8 tons on pot.

I had the pleasure of being onboard for the towing an amphib ship into port all 177,000 tons. They were afraid the steel tow cables were going to fray and bust and decapitate someone. I also was onboard for a boomer sub tow from Charleston, SC to Panama. I have been from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Colone (sp?) Panama on the East Coast and all over the Med and parts of France and Africa as well as Cuba, Haiti and Bermuda. If I had not been medically retired, I would still be out there. There is no sleep like the sleep you get when you are underway, plus my boat was almost 50/50 with females.
