Mars over the summer
I've been watching Mars since summer 2003 thru my 8-inch telescope in the clear skies of arizona. Can see plenty of surface detail - including polar caps (like ours) and the 'Grand Canyon of Mars', and Meridani Terra where Opportunity will land on Sunday.

The Mars stuff is so cool. I just wish the Martians wouldn't have sabotaged the rover we sent them. That really pisses me off, and is no way to make friends with Earth. I have never trusted them since reading Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles.

Did anyone notice that Spirit shut down just as it was about to start drilling rock and as Opportunity was prepping to land?

Talk about a diversion! I wonder what they saw/found. Conspiracy theory folks must be drooling all over this one. (not counting England's lander failed, but ours worked?! What are they hiding?)
