That's wrong on so many levels, but the funniest thing is that you put a picture of a spinning rod in the fly fishing section

At $50/inch, it would have cost $2.50!

Re: Official CS Fly-Fishing Thread

There are some great streams up here in northern Wisconsin for Brook Trout. On a few occassions I have put on the waders, grabbed a spinning rod/reel and plunged into the bush. The fishing and total seperation from civilization was great, but alot of work. The current can be very fast, with large rocks, boulders and small waterfalls. I have thought about fly fishing many times, but don't want to invest only to find out the the terrain is too difficult to manage.

Anyone use a flyrod in an area where the streams are narrow and lined with branches and bushes?

All over Arkansas brother. They make different length rods for different applications. Take a look at some of my pics from the link in my sig and tell me if it matches what you are talking about.

Re: Official CS Fly-Fishing Thread

Due to a lack of fly fishing opportunities in the North Texas area, a lot of us like to chase local carp. A 10-15 lb carp on a 3 wt is a lot of fun. This one was about 8 pounds, caught within site of downtown Dallas.

Re: Official CS Fly-Fishing Thread

I've dabbled at fly-fishing over the years...I love to trout fish, mainly with my Ultra-lite Ugly Stick. I have a fly rod that was my Dad's,that he won at the Elks Club, when I lived in PA.

Did some fly fishing when I lived in Nashville, TN on Percy Priest Lake and caught some bluegills and sunfish. My wife went to the the Outdoorwoman Program and learned how to tie flies, so we have the equipment to tie.

I'll have to dig my stuff out and take a picture....hmmm...I need to go fishin'.

Re: Official CS Fly-Fishing Thread

Where I live, fly fishing isnt much of a thing.
However, I still love to fish for bass (all species pretty much), crappie, and sometimes catfishin can be fun.

Gah. Now I really want to fish.

Where do you fish? I am moving up to KC in may, and i am going to try and find a few places to fish. I have fished smithville, any other decent lakes?

Re: Official CS Fly-Fishing Thread

I am thinking of stocking the pond with crappies this summer, that would kill many an evening (with a stogie).

as for the carp posted above, I read some articles last year where people fly fish for them, talk about a battle!
