Please protect yourselves.

A couple weeks ago my Dad was told he had cancer. A few months ago my Sister Inlaw was told she had cancer.

While calling my Dad's friends to let them know that he had cancer, I found 1 had died of cancer last year, 1 had just finished Chemo, 1 was told a couple months ago that he has cancer and another has been fighting it for nearly a year.

Yesterday while I was at the cancer doctor with my Dad, I saw a long time friend of mine who's wife was told in November that she has cancer.

One thing that everyone of them has in common is that the cancer was found in the latter stages.

One thing that would have helped everyone of them find it at an early stage would have been a Cat Scan WITH CONTRAST.

Please try and get a Cat Scan with contrast every 3-5 years. When I see the damage that cancer causes and how the odds of beating it drop the later it is found, your money will be well spent.

My Dad was told he has a 1% chance of being cured. If he would have caught it in the early stages his odds would have been 80%-90%

Please give yourself and loved ones the gift of knowing and a better chance of survival if the worst case is found.

Take Care.
Ken

Re: Please protect yourselves.

We can send a man to the moon. We can track anything via GPS. All this high tech gadgetry yet we can't come close to finding a cure or vaccination for cancer. that is a shame in my opinion. Wonder what would happen to the hospitals, drug companies, etc. if they ever "found" a cure?

Re: Please protect yourselves.

Praying for that 1% for your dad.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with a very rare stomach cancer 8 years ago.
He was given only a couple months to live. He said there was no way he was leaving his young children. He hasn't yet.

Re: Please protect yourselves.

I will say a prayer for your father and your sister-in-law Ken. Cancer is brutal, and plays no favorites. Thank you for the advice of the Cat Scan with contrast, you may have helped someone right here in the Jungle out.

Re: Please protect yourselves.

I've lost several to cancer, this is why I got into research. The wife of my boss had stage 4 colon, it had spread to her liver. She had one foot in the grave (7 spots on the liver). 6 months of chemo and surgery has left her with 2 small spots on her liver which were removed. Never give up, there is always hope!! Of course prayers are necessary.

My friends wife has the same thing, stage IV colon that spread to the liver. The tumor on the liver was the size of a football.

I want to thank everyone for the prayers and kind words, but I really hope that everyone will get checked out. You can have this stuff for years and not know it.

We did get some good news yesterday, they are going to remove the kidney at Swedish Hospital in about three weeks. I don't think they would be doing it if he had no chance.

Thanks again and please get checked.
