I for one enjoy everyone's views and opinoins on not only cigars but cars, music, and yes politics(Well, everyone's except for Jerry's) I think the politically themed threads are a great additon to the site, we are all grownmen and should be able to express our opinoins like adults. Queensland's Tom Knox, in a letter to The Australian, points out yet another Mike Moore misrepresentation:

"The movie Fahrenheit 9/11 asserts the children of US congressmen are under-represented in US forces in Iraq.

"There are 300 million Americans; 130,000 US troops in Iraq; 535 congressmen and women; and at least five children of congressmen serving in Iraq.

"Thirty seconds of intellectual effort shows that children of US congressmen are very over-represented in Iraq; but 30 seconds is way over the capacity of admirers of Fahrenheit 9/11."

I may or may not agree with Moore, but I respect his RIGHT to express his opinion, whether he puts it on a movie screen or a computer screen.

If it gets people talking about what Bush did right or wrong, that's part of democracy.

How many other people are brave enough to spend their time and money to put their views out there to the public?
(Yes, I know that not all of the money spent on making the movie was his, but he probably spent more than all of us make put together.)

We should think twice about our effort and opinion before we critique someone elses.

Obviously Moore has the right to say pretty much anything he wants. I don't think I ever questioned his rights. But how can you defend Moore's right to express his opinion of Bush while criticizing me for expressing my opinion of Moore?

Agreed. But Moore pawns his opinion off as fact under the guise of documentry. I have a HUGE problem with this.

My guess is he spent $0 on the project. He might have spent more money out-of-pocket than I make to pay for his Frank'n'Beans supply, but not for this movie.

Again, agreed. Moore rants against companies moving jobs out of the country but has his entire website designed, maintained and hosted out of country. He waxes about government lies while misleading and lying to his viewers. He waves his finger at a overconsuming country while ignoring the obvious fact that he is grossly overweight because of the very same flaw. Moore is not just a capitalist in socialist clothing, he is a snake-oil salesman.. ready to cure our ills with fact, fiction or whatever is selling that week.

Most documentrys are skewed in favor of the director's opinions and views, that's the point. They're meant to be persuasive and informative, if they presented all the facts in an unbiased way they would be even more boring and pointless than they all ready are...

True, although Moore likes to talk about his "fact checking" etc. even the usual "show things out of context" trick isn't enough. He moves directly onto lying, gross manipulation, hell even into photoshopping, lol.

As an aside, there are decent documentaries out there. Tribute comes to mind. It's about a few tribute bands over the country. It's insane, a little sad, embarassing and funny as hell.

What I'd like to see is a mockumentary (oops, I mean Documentary) about moore himself - except this time let's call a spade a spade and show him his face in a real mirror, not a distorted, refracted prism like he shows anyone he has a beef with!!!
