I thought it was a pretty good show. I always have low expectations for SB halftime shows anyway. This one was better than I expected. Only good one in recent years was U2, but they put on a great show regardless, and they pushed the patriotism button like mad. Most current acts would be too risque for the Facist Censorship Commission anyway, so you get recycled acts from years ago. In that context, Prince was a pretty good choice.

I ALWAYS have low expectations... well said. I really don't like it most of the time because they are boring, even the bands I do like! That being said, Prince was awesome. He did a fantastic job, and I really enjoyed it. Like I said in an earlier discussion, I'm a Metal and Country fan... but Prince can play the guitar with the best of them!

"The Kid" rocked! Nuff said. If you're not a fan of his, well I can appreciate that. Is he weird? Depending on your definition... he certainly could be. The question is: Did he entertain the halftime crowd? I think the answer to that is: Yes. JMO.

Re: Prince????

Just another plus vote for Prince. Wasn't really a big fan of his "in his day" but I thought he put on a very good performance...nice to see the "older" performers/bands still around.

I liked it, I think Prince is one of the better guitar players out there even if his recent (the last 15 years!) music is not really my taste. I certainly think it was better than having Janet Jackson, or ANY country western singer for that matter.

I do agree the Foo Fighters would be awesome for the SB...maybe next year? (Oops, that phrase fits in a couple ways for us Bears fans...)
Dont be haten guys..Yes, Prince is old but still good..and a genius..He's written more songs for other people you hear on the radio than himself..

The same could be said for Richard Marx.... But I actually like a lot of Prince's songs, especially his older stuff.

Me too,

I thought Prince was seriously great (considering he was playing in the rain). Man, "Purple Rain" just gave chills watching it. Him doing "All along the Watchtower". Man simply fabulous!

I think the SB halftime shows should cease to exist.

Re: Prince????

I thought Prince ripped on guitar.

It could have been worse IMHO. Such as:

1) Clay Aiken
2) N Sync
3) Britney Spears
4) Other "pop tarts"

Re: Prince????

Heh...

Ok, here's my two cents.

1) After the Jackson/Timberlake debacle, I think they were looking for anything tamer than the 'debacle duo'.
2) I'm not sure how Prince's 'shower curtain purple penis' routine was tamer than the Jackson/Timberlake fiasco. (methinks some folks at the NFL spent today updating their resumes)
3) Whatever you might think about his music, style or gender confused demeanor, kudos to him for being a total professional. It must have totally sucked to perform in that rain, but he and his crew pulled it off without looking pissed. I think there's a lesson there for everyone.

I saw that too and couldn't stop laughing, I wondered who else caught it. The silhouette behind the cloth was hilarious. I was going to search on the net for references and then realized I didn't care all that much.
