LETTERS FROM THE SAND BOX:

Hi! My name is Cpl Crystal L G (edited for open forum, Hog) and I am a Marine stationed in Iraq close to Ramadi. This is my second time out with this unit and it is many of the Marines 1st deployment ( I think 4 of us have served over seas during this war since 2001). My unit is Personnel Retrieval and Processing (formally known as Mortuary Affairs) and I am from Georgia as well as many in my unit are and some people are from Anacostia MD as well.

Our sole purpose here in Iraq is to ensure all personnel KIA (Killed In Action) within our area of operation (Al Ambar Province Iraq) is expeditiously sent home to their families as well as securing their personal belongings so those items can make it home to the families as well. We operate on a 24/7 schedule and are often working more than not which makes it a lot harder to get items that are unavailable to us at the PX.

We do have males and females and I do have requested items or items of importance to the Marines that is not currently sold in the PX. For the Males: white boot socks, shaving kits (most have Mach 3's but replacement razors aren't ordered by our PX), non smelling lotions, foot powder, foot creames, blank DVD-R and CD-R ( we do have a few computers to burn music with), any food items that can safely make it over (we have refrigeration storage as well as a microwave that is available for us to use). Now I will list some items that we have that we can always use more of, we have an XBOX, we play computer games as well, alarm clocks (the ones here have been turned over so many times it often has to be reset to reflect the proper time), AA & AAA batteries, pens,
