A futon does not have cushions. It just folds out.

Nope! Not that either. A trundle bed is the one that rolls under a day bed. You know the one you pull out, push down on it and it pop's up. What nobody want's to believe me that it's a sofa bed? Tough Crowd!!!

Well yes, but actually “hide-a-bed” is more of a generic term. I have heard people use the term “hide-a-bed” when referring to many different items. A couple examples would be 1) A bed that fold down from the wall, also called a Murphy bed. 2) A bed that rolls around and folds up then gets stuck in a closet. But in all fairness I have also heard people refer to a sofa bed as a “hide-a-bed” too.

Re: What is that bed called?

Sounds like a "Yes dear, sorry dear" bed. Be careful, Ive heard they tend to cause money to fall out of your pockets and turn them into diamond earrings while you sleep. Sleeping on them will also cause terrible headaches and a loss of stogie privelidges. Avoid sleeping on these at all costs.

I am in the carpet and upholstery cleaning business. I have owned and currently operate multiple Chem-Dry franchises in the L.A. basin and have for the last 16 years. Not disagreeing. As I said in my earlier post, the “hide-a-bed” is a very generic term used in the industry. Kind of like what Kotex is to feminine hygiene products. Check out these links and you will see some good examples of what I mean by generic term:
1) http://amos.shop.com/amos/cc/main/cc.../adtg/11180441
2)
http://www.hideabed.co.uk/
3)
http://sofas-usa.com/catalog.asp?action=showcat&id=1

As you can see many items out there are referred to as “hide-a-beds”.

Balls in you court.
