Re: Snus/dip users?
I used to dip Skoal regular. Thought it was great. Then a friend convinced me to try Cope. At first, didn't really like it. Tried it again.........and again...now Cope is the only snuff that I enjoy. If they would stop making it, I'd stop chewing.
A couple of months ago I purchased a can of Skoal regular because I had fond memories of it and thought it would be a good change of pace. One dip and into the trash can. In any event, I'm interested in this european stuff you mention and may have to order a can and try it out. It would have to be quite impressive to replace Cope. |

Re: Snus/dip users?
Probably the most versatile tobacco products in the world are the old- style rope and pigtail tobaccos, still made in England by Gawith, Hoggarth and Samuel Gawith. I understand that at one time, this was the baccy of choice of sailors worldwide... you could smoke it in your pipe, cut a hunk off for chaw, or grind it in the ship's mill to make snuff. I've smoked a good bit of this stuff in a pipe, but a friend of mine chops it up in a coffee grinder for snuff. Much care is required no matter how how you do it, because the nicotine content of this stuff is unreal!

Anywho, I just tried the snuff. Snapped the can 10 times (for good measure) and it still didn't work. Might put in a cap full of water to over moisten it and make it stick together better... |

Re: Snus/dip users?
instead, try a little bourbon- it'll add a little twang! The most important pack isn't the initial snapping, it's pinching really hard against the side of the can to make a tight dip, you know? Cool, check out my post count, 1111, I'm a post whore!

Re: Snus/dip users?
Got me a snus in the mouth right now. I used to use Skoal. I prefer this snus stuff a lot more. No spitting and I can do it at work and no one even knows!

Re: Snus/dip users?
More and more I use General Loose I'm thinking I may just go straight Snus. The taste is much more welcome. How does that Camel snus taste? If it's anything like the cigarettes I'll stay away lol. Got a new can of Cope before work today, made on the 5th, freshest I've ever bought a can around here.

Re: Snus/dip users?
I chewed Skoal for around 40 years. I quit just over two years ago. That was pretty hard. I don't crave it anymore but I would not dare take even one dip. That's happened several times before and you're instantly hooked.
I was married in 1969. On our honeymoon, we drove from Valentine, NE to San Antonio, over to K.C. and then home to Nebraska. I chewed the whole way. I married a ranch girl and, whenever I needed a fresh dip, I'd point to a herd of cattle and say, "now there's some nice stock". She'd look and I'd open a can on my left side and take a dip. In Kansas City, I took a fresh chew and had to spit. The new wife got all concerned and asked if I was sick. I said, "uhh, there's something I should probably tell you." She doesn't mind my cigar habit be she never quite warmed up to the chew. WyoBob |

Re: Snus/dip users?
Started with Skoal WG in Elementary school. Once I hit HS I switched to Cope, and dipped up until about 5 years ago. Every once in awhile I get the hankering for a lip full of Copenhagen and p/u a can, but it usually dries out before I finish it these days. I use to go through a can a day when I dipped regularly.

Re: Snus/dip users?
I think chew costs around $4.50/can now. That turns into a pretty expensive habit. I can buy a lot of cigars for what that costs! When I started, I think Skoal was $ .25/can. Come to think of it, gasoline was $ .25/gallon about that time.

Re: Snus/dip users?
I regularly dip a can a day. 2 if I get really bored. Lately it's been like if I don't have a lip in I'm always thinking about it until I put another one in. Usually put about 1/6 of the can in my lip at a time.

Re: Snus/dip users?
You sound like some of my friends. When they ask for a dip, I cringe because it seems like they throw in a half can.
