Snus/dip users?

My friends/co-workers quit bumming chew from me years ago. I worked at a cattle feedlot. 160 acres of pens and cow poop everywhere, including your hands. It didn't seem "healthy" to use your fingers to pick up a pinch, so, I figured out I could pick up a bit of Skoal with my tongue and pack it in my lip. I wasn't long before folks quit hitting me up for a chew.

My best friend does that. He'll crack the can and insert tongue. I don't bum off him either!

A guys at my firehouse does that too. I've never attempted it. Seems like I wouldn't be able to get a good pack on it and there would be pieces of it all over my mouth.

I would be willing to participate in a very skewed trade for a sampler of Camel Snus. Ive been looking for it for a while now and it is nowehere near me. If I find it, Ill let ya know and pick up a few cans for a bombing run!

Im in love with Camel Snus. A hardcore smoker I work with, got trialed some from Camel a few months ago. I read its only available in Portland, OR and Austin, TX for now.

at the last MoB Hef in IL the place sold General snus. I tried it and I couldn't feel a dang thing. Granted I had just smoked 4-5 pretty strong cigars but still when I dip skoal it hits me hard within the first minute. I dunno if I did something wrong w/ the snus or what. I guess it did taste better, but no effects from it.

I use Oliver Twist right now, and find the buzz very subtle. If I leave it working too long I know it though. I cannot handle Cope or Skoal

am I the only one who thinks this is a really gross habit? Not saying I have any thing against the people that do it, but ya, i think its nasty.

Valentine, NE - that's pretty close to my hometown of Burke, SD. Did you grow up there / live there for a while?

I like the Skoal myself - been chewing off and on for about 12 years. Slowed down quite a bit lately though. New tax laws in SD raised the price to $5.50 a can and I have two young children as well that I don't want to set an example for. Still like a big pinch out on the golf course or the river though.

With true "Snus" there is no spitting required. I do spit mabey twice an hour if I talk to much or just salivate a bit. I can drink beer as well without many problems. I do find Cope, Skoal, etc very nasty, the shear volume of spit is horrific.

My wife grew up on a ranch 45 miles south of Valentine and went to high school there. I lived 3 1/2 hours south of Valentine.

I’ve been dip free for just over a year now, and it wasn’t till about two weeks ago that I even thought about it. I can’t say that I regret quitting though, my gums have started to heal a bit, but I do notice when work picks up and sleep starts to decline, I seam to think about starting up again. I used about every brand there was, over the 12 to 15 years I used the stuff, I preferred Kodiak, but could no longer stomach it, it seamed to cause acid reflux, even today if I smell it I get a bit of indigestion. And Copenhagen was the one that I used the least, for some reason I always felt like I was trying to pack a powered form of dirt, I’d go for it in a pinch…pun intended… but it wasn’t my favorite. The only form of oral tobacco, other than cigars, that I have had in the past year was the Oliver Twists (kind of a tobacco pellet) they weren’t bad, and they used food grade flavoring, I had the anis or original flavor. I may have to look into this Snus stuff, maybe I can curb these cravings I am having without damaging my gums anymore, then again I really should just try to stay off all together.
Side note…Copenhagen fine cut and a tongue piercing really do not mix, as a mater of fact there should be an extra warning on the label…I had to floss the hole in my tongue to get it all out. This is also why I quit using the pack a dip with my tongue method.

I think I will try to quit soon because I cringe at the thought of someday getting mouth cancer and having half of my jaw removed or what ever it is that they need to cut out. I only dip 1-2 times a day so I'm not that heavy of a user but I just find the buzz unbeatable... and sometimes when I can't smoke a cigar and need nicotine it works very well. I'm not sure how it is for everyone else, but for me there are certain triggers that make me wanna dip. If those triggers aren't present I'm fine without it. I usually do it when I get in my truck on the way home from school or when I'm studying. Lately i've found when ever I get on the xbox360 or a PC game that I throw one in. Anyone else like me?
