Seriously, how overboard have we (the United States) gone when they outlaw the Declaration of Independance in history class.

"Well today class we are going to study how the colonies won their Independance from England ................. but we are going to skip over that whole part where they risk their lives by signing a Declaration of their Freedom which in turn sparks an entire war."

This is just getting Crazy!!

You know I understand the need for diversity in school. I also understand the need to make people of all religious beliefs comfortable in practicing their own religion. Hell, I even understand the need to stop religious zealots from forcing their beliefs on other people especially in a place where education takes place. But the fact is that you can't teach history of a people without teaching their beliefs at the time. What would be the point of learning about ancient Greece or Egypt if we knew nothing of their beliefs on different deities? It just seems overly "PC" to me to try and redact history in order to make it more "user friendly".

The majority (at least 50%) of the signers of the Declaration of Independence as well as The Constitution, for that matter were not only of strong religious beliefs but were Freemasons as well -- a group known for their deep spiritual beliefs, as well as a strong belief in one god. How the heck can you study or try to understand history if you don't take into account personal factors of those individuals who made up history.

Dumb, confused, and overly reactive, if you ask me.

I just read on Fox News that some school in New Jersey has banned Christmas songs with any religious theme from their Christmas pageant. Sad!
