Great Global Warming Swindle...?

I agree the planet goes through warming and cooling, its the rate at which it is occuring right now that is alarming to say the least. In the past the warming and cooling has taken thousands of years to see the types of changes we are seeing in the last 100 years.

Eventually the Earth will warm, the seas will rise, etc.etc.etc. Can someone give me a good, unselfish, unself serving, rationale as to why it is important if it happens 100 years from now as opposed to 500 years from now? 50 years from now as opposed to 1,000 years from now?

Folks, it's going to happen. IMHO our scientists would be better served figuring out how to deal with it when it does happen, rather than bickering and engaging in petty squabbling about WHEN it will happen.

Whats happening right now is not part of the earths normal cycle. Global cooling/warming happen once every 40,000 according to the earth tilt(22.5-24 degrees). Say we keep at the same pace for the next 100 years and the earth keeps tilting as part of its normal cycle. It is possible that the earth could become super heated causing all types of problems that could lead to humans going bye bye for ever. We really have no idea what is going to happen, only ideas.

By doing everything we can to curve global warming caused by humans will give scientists more time to learn how to deal with global warming and all that comes with it.

No need to accelerate the warming unless you really want a beach front house in Kansas

bottom line is that there is no way to know that what is happenning now is not exactly what is supposed to happen.

Has it ever occured to you that by trying to slow down what a certain group of environmentalists see as global warming, you are actually ****ing with what the Earth is trying to do and in the process screwing up the cosmic balance of this planet????that you're the problem and not the solution?? just a thought to keep in mind

I'm sure humans have an effect on climate. Perhaps not as much as a giagantic volcanic eruption and/or massive wildfires. Developing countries are putting massive amounts of crap into the air. Everyone's seen pictures of gillions of bicycle riders wearing paper masks.

No matter whether there is global warming or not, we should not be polluting the air and water. What's going to happen? It will get cold, it will get hot. Humans may be able to have a slight effect on climate but nature will win in the end. Humans may or may not survive. Heck, one idiot with his finger on the red button will have more of an effect than if we all drove a Prius.

What really annoys me is when the "annoited" tell us how we should be living our lives in austerity while they, Washington blow hards and the Hollywood elite, have some of the biggest carbon footprints in the world!

Never suggested we try to change the earth or any of cycles. Instead we should change how we impact the earth, such as clear cutting forest that leads to run off that kills marine like that produces most of the earths oxygen. Or reduce our use of fossil fuels that cause a build up of CO2. We are not balanced and we are all part of the problem.

So what if we're warming the earth? Who cares?

I don't believe we are, nobody has come up with one shred of evidence yet that proves we are, it's all speculation. Let's for arguments sake, say that it is true. Why should any of us care? Let the earth heat up. If you believe in global warming, you most likely believe in evolution as well (I don't believe mainstream evolution), in that case, do you not think that some creature will adapt to the new environment just as we did to ours? So what if we die? According to evolution scientists, thousands and thousands of creatures have died in their endeavor to adapt to their environment, and only those that were strong, and adapted well, survived. You may say that what we're doing, isn't natural... But it is, it's 100% natural, all of the fossil fuels, are exactly that, fossil. Earth gave us fuel, and all we're doing is using it for our benefit. How foolish can one be, to think that us miniscule humans, can change something that has been around for so long, we could never destroy earth, not even with nuclear weapons.

I, personally, think that we should conserve a little more and implement alternate fuels regardless of the global warming issue.
