Mac Battery Question

I put my PowerBook away and the battery(3 months old) went completely dead. I got it out last night and now the battery will not charge. Is there a trick to this?

Re: Mac Battery Question

You're going to need to be more specific, brother: What model & year PowerBook? Why is the battery only 3 months old (i.e., was it a recall replacement)? How long was the compy put "away" for? In what conditions was it stored? From what kind of power source are you trying to charge it? Etc.

Re: Mac Battery Question

It's a PowerBook G4 Titanium. I had it put away for about a week. I replaced the battery 3 months ago with a new one from apple. I had it stored in a briefcase, and I'm trying to charge it in the computer with the original power supply that came with it. I left it on the plugged up last night with the computer turned off and it still shows 0% battery.

Re: Mac Battery Question

Here are some suggestions:

Personally, that's not a problem that I've had or heard before. Looking at the IU recommendations, though, I'd try turning it *on* plugged in and see if the battery charges then.

Was the battery dead when you stored it? Has this battery been charged before?

Re: Mac Battery Question

Thanks Professor I checked out the website. This battery worked fine when I put it up.

I will put it to sleep tonight and see if it will charge that way.

Re: Mac Battery Question

Next thing would be the PMU reset, I'd think. Best of luck and let me know what happens. PM me and I can give you a link to a Mac board that I've found helpful in the past....

Re: Mac Battery Question

Professor thanks for the help. I reset the PMU last night shut it down and let it charge overnight. I pulled it off the charger tonight and am using it now. The reset was the trick.

Re: Mac Battery Question

Mac battery's seem to have issues. I've been using Apples for years, and I've had two battery issues with my 3 year old PowerBook. Sorry to hear about your problem, let me know if you fix it somehow.
