That was pretty damn cool. How much $$$ does one of those cost???

I watched a show on TV last year or so, dealing with RC's. Several scale model fighter jets (an F-4 I remember well), all with actual working jet turbine engines. Seems like I remember them saying these cost from $4000 up, with the jet engine accounting for about $2500 and up of the costs.

A local hobby shop has a rc jet plane hanging up. It is the owners.
Never saw it fly, wish he would do it again. I forgot how much he
said he spent on it, but I know it was quite a bit of $$

He said most people wreck a jet rc the first time they fly it.

My father in law was a RC Plane guru when he was alive. He was in clubs with a bunch of young guys - they would crash the planes and he would bring them home in a shopping bag and rebuild them. He had a passion and patience that was incredible. Cool stuff.

Depends on how many times they wreck -

I raced R/C Cars (started with trucks for a year) for well over 10 years. I have about 11-$12,000 tied up in it all. I use to hang with some of the plane and helo guys - they had a lot more tied up in it if they had been doing it for any amount of time.

If they can get a manufacture sponsor it's a huge help. I never had one but I teamed up with a friend which helped reduce our cost's.

Fun stuff - just expensive.

That was an outstanding video, n3uka!

I started building models when I was 10 years old. Free flight gliders, "U" control, RC powered and gliders. I love building models. In fact, I'd rather build than fly, I think. I haven't built any models for quite a few years but I did build a "really large model", my RV6, finished in 1995 after 5 1/2 years of building. 180 mph on 150 h.p. (Sold in 1999) WyoBob

I've got 2 planes hanging up in garage, one never flown/crashed - the other rebuilt after a crash.
