Alberto Gonzales

My drab and dreary life picked up a little(damned little) yesterday. I watched the senate Gonzales hearings in it's entirety. I bet you are all soooo--- envious.
Gonzales copped the Ollie North/admiral Poindexter plea "I don't recall" at least 100 times (55 in the first-half).
I was greatly relieved by his testimony. I think it's a green light to keep on enjoying those ISOM's. If anyone gets caught the Attorney General will probably forget all about it before the trial starts.

Re: Alberto Gonzales

You have to figure his days are numbered.
[Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the ranking Republican on the panel] opened the hearing with a clear warning to the attorney general, whose previous accounts of the circumstances of the dismissals have been contradicted by other witnesses and e-mail records released in recent weeks.

“We have to evaluate whether you are really being forthright,” Mr. Specter said. “Your characterization of your participation is significantly, if not totally, at variance with the facts.”

Anyone wonder why there was not the same furor when Clinton and crew fired ALL 93(?) U.S. Attorneys shortly after he took office? Hmmmmm?

All presidents replace U.S. Attorneys after they assume office. It's one of those jobs in the government where you submit your resignation when you accept the job. It is customary for U.S. Attorneys to stay on the job for the duration of their appointing presidents term of office.

Not all presidents do this. The current one did NOT. Nor did he request their resignation when they reached the end of their terms.

This is a manufactured scandal that has nothing to do with Alberto Gonzalez. It's another attempt by the left to continue to chip away at the administration.

The U.S. Attorney In Texas was replaced as soon as Bush assummed office. Evan Gonzales testified yesterday that the fired U.S. Attorneys had completed their first four years.
