Customer Service....

so, after buying a new treadmill and ordering my bowflex, i decided to pull out my OLD home stereo system and speakers... i mean OLD. not as old as some peoples, i'm sure, but still, i got the components and speakers in the EARLY 90s.

dusted off my Yamaha MX-1000 amp, my matching Yamaha CD player (the first one with CD exchange), pre-amp and tuner...

cleaned up my OLD Cerwin-Vega AT100 speakers, fixed some of the insulation in one of them that a cat had jacked up years ago (the port in the back is rather large for the 15" sub)....

get it all plugged in, ready to go, watch the lights dim when i turn on the amp....

wait....

wait....

wait....

the amp finally warms up and there's sound.... from ONE speaker!!!

come to find out, someone screwed in one of the fuses too much and stripped it out, so no sound for me....

who would think you could get a replacement part for a 10+ yr old speaker they don't make anymore?

i contacted CV on a whim, the next day i get an email saying, "just send us your home address and we'll ship you the part you need."

HOLY SMOKES!!!

i had to share that with you all. i figured i was in for some loooooong drawn out ordeal to find the piece to the back of an old speaker where the + and - hook in, and the fuse holder is in the same piece...

i will say that, DAMN, that 1 speaker still gets very loud. house was shaking again (thanks to some Cutty Ranks).

Re: Customer Service....

Imagine that a company that cares about customer service no matter when the last time you purchased from them... Closest to that for me was a pair of Advent Legacy II speakers,Tweeter on one went bad and they replaced it no charge a little over a year past waranty at Crutchfield...

Re: Customer Service....

yep, i bought these in the PX in germany back in 92 or 93.... gone through my fair share of fuses.. speakers are 400 watts, amp is 1000... sometimes i would need a little extra de-stressing from work.

Re: Customer Service....

On the flipside my mother in law bought her husband a Colibri 2 xmas's ago. Like most of their lighters it never worked. She bought it from my cigar shop. Finally she came in, they tried to fix it, to no avail. Gave her a box to send it back to Colibri. They had it for a month. Sent her a letter back and said, we can't fix it.. Send us $47 and we will send you a new one. So she did...... Took that lighter out of the box. Bled it, filled it..... NOTHING.
