Re: What books are you reading?

So what, nobody's read anything for a year?!

I'm half way through Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. It's a very funny, hair-raising memoir of his life as a professional chef in and around NYC. I'm alternating this with a rereading of Lucius Shepard's Life During Wartime. This guy is a very imaginative story-teller and accomplished writer somewhere on the boundary of straight fiction and speculative fiction with a side of magical realism.

On the back burner is Stephen Kinzer's Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq . I can only take a chapter at a time before I start foaming from the ears.

Team of Rivals by Doris K. Goodwin. It is about Lincoln and his cabinet members-very interesting. I usually read fiction, but this is a nice change of pace.

I'm re-reading the whole series now. I love that series. When I'm done, I'll go back to reading the Sackett series by Louis L' Amour. I'm a reading maniac in the Summer.

Clive Cussler-" Sahara " When I leave next wk on vacation.I've read most of his books, alot like Tom Clancy only not as technical. These are very hard to put down, which is why I read mostly on vacation.I get the "eye" from wifey when I tune out.Which I do when I'm reading his stuff. So I try to read 2 or 3 while on vacation.

Mate, wasn't '03-25-2006' like 3 and a bit months ago? Or did we hit 2007 and I didn't realise?

Just to break the habit of a lifetime, I'm reading more Terry Pratchett. Although after this book, I think it might be time to read 'Born Free' and 'Out of Africa' again.

Yeah, my bad. There was a gap of almost exactly a year between posts 44 & 45.

I read a lot of Discworld books at one time. I think my favorites was Mort. Pratchett's collaboration with Neil Gaiman, Good Omens : The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, was also pretty good.

Just started re-reading Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, a story of our culture and why things are the way they are - as told through, you guessed it, a gorilla!

Re: What books are you reading?

Right now I'm reading ODD THOMAS by Dean Koontz. Just "finished" (or should I say, threw across the room) THE RETURN by Bentley Little; an author who I will never read again.
