Fred Thompson vs. Michael Moore

I don't think this has been posted yet, so I thought I would share. I usually stay out of politics on this site, but I wanted to post it since their was a reference to Stogies. Apparently, Thompson recently complained about Moore traveling to Cuba to film his health care documentry. Moore responded by offering to debate Thomson and questioned him about his cigar choice, and asked him if he was violating the embargo. Thomson responded by video message. Not picking one side or the other, just thought I would pass along the information.

Here a couple of links.

Re: Fred Thompson vs. Michael Moore

I'm no Michael Moore fan (although his movies crack me up) but Fred Thompson and other conservatives who are pro-embargo but smoke Cuban cigars do piss me off. It's elitist. We have to make up funny acronyms like ISOM and talk in code yet they can proudly display boxes of Cuban Montecristos for any and all to see.

I think Fred Thompson is a great Presidential candidate, but it's time to see that we need to shift our approach with that special island. We can't allow this policy of failed containment to go on. Something needs to happen, but maybe Father Time will help us with that.

I'm not surprised Thompson turned down Moore's offer to debate him.

Moore would have flattened him. (heh!)

And please can someone explain to me how one can smoke Cuban cigars and still claim to be "pro-embargo?"

...goes all the way back to Jack Kennedy buying up a stash and signing the damn embargo. The thing was wrong from the beginning.

Kennedy's stash was 100% pre-embargo and so perfectly legal!

Simple it's politics... trust me if I am sure if he had a choice he would be all for importing Cuban Cigars legally... but, because his party demands it he has to be against it...

Yes, but it was bullshit anyway... he could have given some warning so other people could stock up...

The only way Moore would have flattened Thompson is if he fell on him. Moore's contradictions far outweigh even Thompson's any day of the week. Regardless, Thompson should take a hard look at himself if he still plans to support the embargo while violating it. I personally would have loved seeing that debate though, who knows maybe it can still happen in the future. I actually would like to see a debate between Christopher Hitchens and Michael Moore. I believe that would be far more informative.

I think we ought to make them spend every waking moment together until they get along, a la Days of Thunder.

What did Fred Thompson ever do to you, regardless of his politics and his hypocrisy concerning the embargo, I wouldn't wish spending every waking moment with Michael Moore on anyone... [SIZE=1](well except for maybe Rosie O'Donnell don't you think they would make a nice couple, only thing is who would be on top?)

I can't wait for Michael Moore to implode upon himself like the large gaseous star he is.

Thompson's wife...

2nd wife Jeri, 35, is a political media consultant at Verner Liipfert law firm in Washington, who once worked for Senate Republican Conference and Republican National Committee.

And a funny NSFW Fred joke here.

Re: Fred Thompson vs. Michael Moore

Filming a healthcare documentary in Cuba? What's it about....how much better it is in a communist run dictatorship? Moore is a stupid fat-ass.I'm fat, but I'm cool.

Fred Thompson is going to be the next President, also.

And, I know that Thompson is the first person in politics to ever have a double-standard. Shame on him.
