American Idol

This is a discussion on American Idol within the General Discussion forums, part of the Everything But Cigars category; I don't think they need a show. They could just travel the country having auditions. It never ceases to amaze ...

It never ceases to amaze me......the people who actually think they can sing.

I watched part of that tonight. I said the same thing, haven't they listened to themselves on tape? Sure put an end to my aspiring to follow in Elvis's footsteps.

Re: American Idol

I think now after a few seasons, its more of a case of wanting their 15 minutes of fame. For instance, William Hung. The guy must have known he coudn't sing to save his life, but he made a killing on being infamous.

Re: American Idol

I love the show and always look forward to trying to narrow down who I think will be in the top 3. The last three seasons I have been able to pick the top three each time and the winner twice. The second season I picked two of the top three from the audition shows. This year is a bit different though as I think they are using the audition shows to showcase the bad singers. It's pretty funny to see them. I think most know they can't sing, but a few of them actually think they are good. That William Hung dude... he thought he was good, no doubt about it. And, with all the hype, he still thinks he's good.

Re: American Idol

My daughter stopped over for a viset and I made the mistake of telling her that I had never watched American Idol.

She insisted that I'm the only one in America that doesn't and made me suffer through this show.

Every day it becomes more clear to me why I smoke & drink.

He certainly became famous. But if I remember correctly, his record deal was only for like $25000. Hey, I'd take that in a heartbeat, because I can't sing at all lol.

Re: American Idol

This show as with most reality shows do nothing for me. I would much rather be watching a good Sci-fi Program.

Re: American Idol

I hate this show, but this year I'm watching it. One of my kids from youth ministry a few years back made finals - her name is Carrie from Baltimore, in case anyone's interested...
