It's been a rough week

Well, I bought a new bike (02 Concours) from a friend, and had my old one (Vulcan 800) at the shop for an oil change and some minor repairs prior to selling it. I went to pick it up on Monday afternoon. stopped to drop a couple things off at my ex-wife's office and was leaving there when I think I forgot how much less responsive the old one was. the bike couldn't handle the corner at the speed I was doining, so I started to lowside, hit the curb and was thrown from the bike.

An ambulance ride, 5 stiches in my left knee, massive bruising of my left thigh and a shattered first metacarpal (base of the thumb) and broken radius on my right hand/arm, surgically repaired with multiple screws and plates later, here i am.

All I can say now is I'm still here. Thank god for helmets and my insistance on ALWAYS wearing mine despite CT's lack of a helmet law. Gonna have to buy a new one before I start riding again.

Malik, sorry to hear about your get-off. I'm glad it wasn't worse than what you're reporting, i.e., you're here to report about it and smoke a stogie.

I've never been in a get-off that I've broken any bones, but I have friends that have been in worse.

The body will heal. Cheers to a quick recovery.

Hey man... accidents happen. It is walking away that matters. One can always replace helmet, gear, & bikes.

Pete, I'm really sorry to hear about this, man. I'm glad you alive and relatively well. It could have been much worse, and I'm glad that it wasn't. Take your time to recover, you know we'll all be here when ya get back. I hope this doesn't sour you for riding this summer, and I hope to see you out there soon!
