She didnt see him much, because he spent most of the time in North Carolina painting. Yeah...just guess my initial reaction to that. He insisted the treatment would take on eventually, but it could take a couple months...so instructions and prescriptions were given over the phone.

Finally, after being fed up with his lack of interest in her and his attitude, she went to a differenct doctor. This was a couple days before my birthday...Jan 17. He took x-rays and immediately saw that there was no polymyalgia, but she had bone cancer pretty bad. She has been in incredible pain for quite a while and had been unable to walk since about Jan 15. Left hip was completely destroyed, and right one wasnt looking too good.

Then they plan on beginning chemo.

Despite all of this, she remains in good spirits. Before surgery this morning she asked the surgeon if the new hips could be a size smaller.

Shes a strong woman who has dealt with bigger pains in the ass than this (me).

Now, the question is, how many robustos will it take to burn this guys eyes out? Ane believe me....I am far from one who believes in malpractice, etc...but from what I have gathered, this guy didnt make a mistake, but was seriously negligent.
Adam......I'm so glad to hear her surgery went well. She sounds like a strong woman. She will remain in my thoughts and prayers

As for that peice of shit doctor.....I would sue the crap out of him. I would make sure he losses his license. In a job where people are suppose to be you primary concern, to not only mis-diagnose which I know happens, but then to move to NC to paint WTF over. Don't waste your cigars on him....get a nice hot poker, you know the kind used for fireplaces, and use that do burn his eyes out. Man this subject is very touchy with me, for reasons that don't need explanation. I am sorry your Mom had to go through more then was necessary. I know how that would make me feel.

Re: Tonight's smoke will be good

Thanks again guys. And Scott...not at all out of bounds.

Chances are, that will be what we end up doing. Most likely it will be my sister in law and me handling things if they head in the legal direction because she is involved in that business as a consultant to lawyers involved in malpractice suits and Im, well, just a stoic asshole. My sister (works in the insurance business) is also taking a quick look at some very questionable things he did regarding billing. Honestly, convincing a judge and jury will be easy, but convincing my parents (espeially my dad) will be another story. Of course, if I asked him if I should shoot the bastard, the answer would be yes.

Right now, obviously, our main concern is getting my mom healthy. She did well today. Her first day post-op and she was able to make 2 steps out of bed and sit in an upright chair for 45mins. They generally expect more from hip replacement patients, but she has done very well considering her other problems.

She is able to cut down on the drugs a bit (even though they have the allowable max on the drip set at 5ml oxymorphone every 5 mins), and she is a lot more clear.

The good news is she is already planning how she will be getting all of the flowers home and figuring out how much longer it will take to drive to myrtle beach this spring now that they will have to make frequent stops so she can get out and stretch.

Now we're just waiting a few days to check for infection and then on to chemo. She has a great group of doctors now and everyone is 100% confident in their ability and her fighting spirit.

She knows, I printed out the old thread...and believe me...that means a lot.

I think one takes for granted the prayers and support of one's immediate family, but support from others, especially people you dont know, is very touching. That old thread and a large group of flowers sent to her by my brother's high school friends really gave her an unexpected boost.

Thanks again everyone.

That's good to hear. She sounds like a tough cookie. That'll help alot in the coming weeks.

We're praying for her continued recovery.
