microsoft excel experts????
seems like we have alot of IT guys here so wanted to give this a shot..
I'm using this excel spreadsheet for work, and have hundreds of pictures that are related to certain line items in my spreadsheet. I was wondering if there was a way to either 1. save the pics into certain cells in excel, so when I click on the cell the picture opens up? or 2. create a link in an excel cell, to a picture stored in another folder outside of the excel spreadsheet. these pictures are in jpg. format, and also if I can do this with my jpg's, wondering if I can do it with mpg video files I have. Using office xp pro. thanks. thanks. |

Re: microsoft excel experts????
Option 2 is easy.
There is a button in the Excel toolbar called "Insert Hyperlink". In the cell you want, click that button. It will open a window with a directory tree. Navigate to the pic you want and click OK. mpeg should work just as well. |

Re: microsoft excel experts????
Rightclick on the Cell, choose Hyperlink, browse to the file and select it.
There should now be a clickable link within the cell that opens up the pic outside of excel. Quote:

Re: microsoft excel experts????
Option 1 sounds more like a job for Access instead of excel, hyperlinks are definently easier

Re: microsoft excel experts????
Option 1 could probably be done, but it's going to require a macro. Better have your VBA hat on pretty tight to pull that one off.
