Mine was built in Mexico. Alot of people are complaining the ones built there burn oil like a m'fer and I will agree to that completely. Have to add oil at least twice before it's regular oil change.

I've had a few VW's and one of the NCO's working for me has one and from my experiences have had ....
82 Rabbit great car except one day I went to start it in the rain and had crazy electrical system problems.
84 Jetta electrical problems but it was cool cuz I drove it for 6 month and resold it for 1k more and a hot chick bought it. I remember her wanting me to SHOW her where the hood release was when she was sitting in the drivers seat w. a mini mini skirt on. (no she didn't get a penny off for that move either)
the new Jetta that the NCO has she has had many issues with.
If you do need part they'll probably be very expensive (import/german)

On the plus side i have heard that they are great to drive and comfy quick etc.
