Plane Ride

This question is for the BOTL's that travel a lot.

I am getting ready to take a plane ride to San Jose. I was wondering what is the best way to take my lighter and cutter with me. Should I pack it in my shaving kit and check the baggage. Do I need to declare it when I check the baggage. Help I need to know soon.

Re: Plane Ride

TSA is starting to take all lighters.
i havent' had a problem with my cutter, i just stick it in my travel humidor and check that in.... never tell them anything. of course, you might find out when you get there that they took it, although i dont' know why if it's in the checked baggage.

First off is it a butane lighter? If yes, leave it at home. Checked in or not they will take it. Something about the butane being highly combustable.

If no, check it. Should be fine. I have started carrying matches everywhere with me. Can't tell me they will spontaniously combust.

As for the cutter. What type is it? If it is a guillotine cutter they might let you carry it on. I know American Airlines let me. I only asked because I was planning on carrying my suitcase on, but if I couldn't take the cutter I would check it. So if you are checking a bag anyway, I say pack it. The lighter is where you have to be cautious

Re: Plane Ride

and to be honest, although TSA just said they won't allow any lighters, it varies from place to place and depends on what dillhole is working at that time.
