Re: Going to see Rush tonight!

I went to their opening show this year in Atlanta at the Hi Fi Buys Amphitheater. It was most excellent. Hope you had a good time.

First of all I want to say sorry for not making my threat title more clear. I didn't really think much about it when I posted it....if nothing else it brought a lot of people in.....nothing like false advertising

As for the show it was amazing. Lot of old favorites and lots of newer stuff too.

Neil Peart's drum solo was incredible as to be expected. He really is one of the best.

Alex Lifeson did a solo in a 12 string acoustic that was also amazing.

And because I used to play bass Geddy has always been one of my heroes.

Just an amazing show from one of my favorite bands. Can't wait to see them again!

Thanks for reading

Sounds like an awesome time. Did they play any of 2112 or Xanado? I saw them a couple of times back in the early 80's. I play bass and Geddy was a hero of mine. My first real bass was a Rickenbacker 4001 because of him. Glad to here they still rock!

Thats awsome! I wanted to see em June 23rd at Nissan Pavilion but I was in Hawaii so I missed em. I haven't seen em since the 30th anniversary tour however many years ago that was.

Re: Going to see Rush tonight!

This seems to be pretty much the same set list.....the only variation that I can think of is after intermission I think 3rd or 4th song in they played Malignant Narcissism from the new CD. Awesome instrumental. Not sure if it was added or replaced one of the songs.....my memory is not what it used to be

The Encore was just amazing....and I think Rush is the only band anywhere that can end a show with an instrumental. I love YYZ!!!

Re: Going to see Rush tonight!

Bumping this because their tour has been extended into 2008.

You can see a listing of tour dates on their site Rush.com. The performance they put on is a 'do not miss' for any Rush fan.

Presale tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10AM for the Atlanta show. It is on July 22 at the new Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at Encore Park in Alpharetta. I can't wait to see them again. It is pretty cool that they started and will finish the tour here in Atlanta.

I would still rather see Limbaugh.

Re: Going to see Rush tonight!

Rush, live, is an experience you'll never forget. I first saw them on the Grace Under Pressure tour (was my first concert ever!), and then on every subsequent tour up through Roll the Bones. Amazing musicianship, especially when one considers that, unlike many bands, Rush recreates their album sounds without the aid of extra musicians hiding backstage (unlike, say, Triumph, who had a guitar tech behind a stack of speakers playing along through most of their set),and with limited tape loops and pre-recorded material (all of which are still "triggered" by either Peart, Lee, or Lifeson).

Man, I still remember that first concert, where, just before the guitar solo in Red Barchetta, we see the red car on the huge videoscreen peeling out in sync with the first lick of the solo. I got goosebumps on my goosebumps.

You should try and make it to one of the shows on their extended tour. The first time around was amazing. I am really hoping for Red Barchetta to be played this time around. It is one of my favorites.

Re: Going to see Rush tonight!

I saw them last summer, and I have tickets to the July 2nd date in Pittsburgh. It was a phenomenal show last time.
