My home town's been in the news recently
The wettest June since records began caused flooding estimated to have hit 31,200 homes and 7,000 firms, mainly in the Midlands and northern England.
The Met Office confirmed that 134.5mm (5.3in) of rain fell across the four countries. The average June rainfall in the UK is 72.6mm (3in). A new record was also set for England, with 140.2mm (5.5in) of rain. Flood victims in Hull - where more than 10,000 homes were evacuated - may not be able to return home for up to a year, the city council has said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6270346.stm Luckily, my mum lives at the top of a hill, so she was largely unaffected, but many of her friends have been flooded out. My cousin was visiting Hull from York and her car was flooded. She still hasn't got it back.
