Favorite Beers

Having recently turned 21 (Jan 22.) I've finally gained the ability to buy my own beer. Since I started college, I've been drinking good beer (thanks in part to my friend Greg who has introduced me to many good brews). In general I like dark thick beers. Spaten Optimator and Paulaner Salvator are two of my favorites. I also enjoy anyting from Kalamazoo Bell's Brewery. They are a small brewery is Kalamazoo Michigan that makes some of the best beers in the world. Pretty much anything by them is out of this world.

The question: What are you favorite Macro and your favorite Micro brews?

I'm not a big drinker, so when I crack one it needs to be good. So far, I like the Guiness and Becks Dark. I'm always looking for something better.:+

RE: Favorite Beers

Well, over here in the UK we don't have the whole micro / macro brewery thing going but my policy is that if you are going to drink a beer make sure it has a kick to it - and I don't mean an alcoholic kick.

I find so much what we call lager beer is bland and pretty tasteless - I think the same can be said for a lot of American beer too!

My favourites tend to be German / Czech beers - Becks, Budvar, Pilsner Urqual.

If I am feeling very brave I might drink just one or maybe two Chimay, a Belgium beer brewed by monks (apparently). At 9% alcohol you tend to take it fairly gently on these!

When I'm back home in Toronto it's Rickards Red, down here it's Killian's Red, Killarney's Red or Sam Adams Oktoberfest

Excuse me, I thought we were talking about beer...

Sorry, the board says "No cigar snobs", nothing about beer snobs

I'd go with Guinness and Harp's (either separately or together!)
