Boo with Survivorman though, he wouldn't take the bark off of a live tree once, only off of a dead one. Bear Grylls on the other hand would have killed an endangered animal, had he not been on camera
Sean, im on your side. TV is just how he makes his living now, but bear grylls has a track record to back himself up. Plus the only reason i watch instead of going to the moab desert myself is for ENTERTAINMENT!!! I do admit i would never try his stunts in the wild though

After seeing Bear drink his own urine in the Moab, he has my respect.

I stayed there last April. Luxorious is pushing it a bit.

Re: I like his show

I was always a little suspect of Bear's abilities and the actual amount of surviving he had to do. He sure seems to run a lot in rough terrain, and seemed to have boundless amounts of energy for a person barely eating any food. Energy usage verses benefits gained is one of the big survival factors that must be considered. Anyone that runs all the time in the programs like Bear does isn't surviving off of grubs and rain water!

As to drinking your own urine in a survival situation, Bear is a complete moron. That is a quick way to death by dehydration, since the concentrated salts and minerals will only serve to dehydrate you faster. About the only thing piss is good for in survival situations is for cleansing, since urine is sterile immediately upon leaving the body. Too many inconsistencies like this for the show to be believable.

Sadly, I'm not surprised at the disclosures. Bear has the background to be believed, but that will be overlooked given these revelations.

Hey Alan.. I admit I'm a fan of Ramsey's Nightmares and the Ice Road Truckers too..
If you really like food and restaurant themed shows, watch Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation. I read his book out of sheer boredom you wouldn't believe what happens in the kitchens of these fine dinning establishments. If what he alleges is true. It makes you think twice about eating out anywhere..
Thank god my wife is a phenomenal chef and still loves to cook for me and I gladly clean up after her. I think I'm getting the better deal.

Give our best to the Mrs.

I've talked to crackheads in Detroit that had to have drank their own urine their breath smelled like it so bad. I don't respect them for it though
