Another loyal Zaino user here. I admit I don't take nearly as good care of my cars as I used to, but I swear for the combination of shine and durability, it can't be beat. Although I also like Megiuars Gold Class for a simple waxing.

My car (many years and many thousand miles ago) after a few coats of Zaino:

Re: DIY Car Detailing

I send my car out every two Months.

Its white pearl and when I have it done professionally in and out it keeps the car looking new. In between it goes to the brushless car wash in the town over that does a very good job.

I hear ya on the towels. I have about a dozen I keep in the trunk. Just in case. With a black car you never know when you will need to rub it down.

Re: DIY Car Detailing

I bought all my stuff from Scott at Specialty Motoring. Many others also do over on the SVT Performance forum. BTW, that ScratchX stuff doesn't get rid of the scratches. It has oils in it to fill them in.

Re: DIY Car Detailing

Love detailing my cars.
Weird to say but I really look forward to it every time I get a chance.
In Florida, with daily summer rains, quite a few opps out there for me.
I use an assortment of products, not really loyal to any one brands line.
However, I stick with the same products over and over since I like the way they work for me.
Nothing beats a shine, clean interior and fresh scent in a car.

Mel
Scratch X is great for very light scratches and it worked great for removing water spots and swirls from my black Solstice. I agree it probably will not work on medium or deep scratches.

Therapy? I feel the same way. I like doing yard work and taking care of my new car.

Re: DIY Car Detailing

In case you haven't done it, I would suggest looking into getting a claybar. It will make a world of difference in the feel of your paint. Of course, you'll have to polish and wax afterwards because it will strip all the wax off.

Re: DIY Car Detailing

I have used Zaino products in the past,,right now I'm impressed with Blue Coral paint sealant,,goes on easy comes off easy..As Far as any of that scratch cover stuff,,none of it works..Once you have a scratch it never goes away,, possibly buffing on some minor hair like scratches can get rid of them.. If you can feel the scratch with the tip of you finger nail its there and can't be covered up....
