How many BOTLs smoke or used to smoke cigs?

I was a phase guy smoking cigs mostley when partying. Then sometimes while not. Then not at all for 6 months at a clip. I never really smoked that regularly except in college when I smoked various other mother nature's substances. Now it's just cigars about twice a week and maybe a cigarette when I go to the bar while away on business in a strange land that allows smoking.

I tried smoking cigarettes for about a week when I was in high school and hated them, so gave up. There have been a few times, usually when drunk, when the bastids won't let me light up a cigar, I get some cigs and smoke them but don't inhale.

Might as well chew on them then, or a straw for that matter. Can't say that the flavour of a cigarette is the main reason that I smoke. More like a nervous affliction.

Smoked maybe 2-3 cig's in my lifetime. Started pipe and cigars when I was about 18 then quit in my 30's. Started again in my 50's. Never liked the taste of cigarettes and could never figure out why anyone would waste there time when they could have a cigar or fire up a pipe.

Well sounds like good advice, but by the time I get drunk, who in the hell remembers good advice? Not I!!!

I have come to the point where I resent myself every time that I light up a cigarette.

I struggled with quitting for the last year of my 12 years of smoking (also 20+ a day). I knew I wanted to quit, I just didn’t think I could quit. So I would sit there and stress about quitting... which would cause me to grab for another butt... which would cause me to stress...

My trick was the gum (the new mint version, soft and tasty). I didn't keep with any program or system; I just chewed when I wanted to smoke. After a month or two I wasn't chewing any longer. Today I have 1 piece of gum left, it is sitting in my desk just in case. That gum will go bad long before I ever use it.

As for how it affects the cigars, I couldn't imagine picking up the butts again simply because I wouldn't want to loose the taste of my cigars. It is really night and day for me. Opening the humidor is like stepping into heaven now. I quit and found that 50% of a cigar is the sent of the leaf.

And if it were not for my quitting and my subsequent re-awakening I wouldn't have started scouring the web for more information. I wouldn't have found CigarBid (or how much one can spend there). I wouldn't have stumbled on this forum last week. In fact, quitting is what got me where I am today - posting my first message in the lowlands here.

Been about fifteen years since cigarettes and had only been smoking them for a couple of years back then.... smoked them for couple of years back in the late seventies before that.

I find it ironic that cigarettes are still pretty repulsive to me.

ha, i'll roll a cigarette every once in awhile. i just hate the chemicals and the cost. i get no real satisfaction out of cigarettes, it's just kinda something to do. i just make sure whenever i have a cigarette, i enjoy it. as soon as i light up just to do it, then i know i'm screwed forever. hey, i'm young, i smoke socially.....and who really cares.

I smoked cigarettes for 15 years, then chewed for 10. Stopped cold turkey...the hardest thing I've ever done!!! Stayed away from everything for 6 years than started cigars. Cigarettes and chew are nothing more than drugs. I smoke 3-4 cigars a week and enjoy them very much. Besides taste the big differance is that I'm in control....except for buying them. If I smoke 4 a week why do I buy 10 a week?... This is where the slope comes in!!
