Insurance sucks!!!

My field no less.
Don't really mean it as I have done it for over 25 yrs and has treated me very well.
However, I too am a consumer and can experience some of the same things all others do and can see why we get the rep we do.

I get dropped by my homeowner insurance as they dropped thousands and thousands of folks in South Florida.
I kindly get "walked" over by my exisiting insurance company to a new company willing to write me, whom they have made arrangements with to pick up their cancellations.
In the interim, after contacting them and having them inspect my home, my original company decides to keep me as they legally could not cancel me with the pending Wilma damage that had yet to be properly repaired.
So....the new company sends me payment letters and I ignore them as I did not care to be insured by them as the old company decided to keep me.
The new one eventually sends me a cancellation notice saying the policy is void as I did not pay. I said good!!!
In the meantime, they bill my mortgage company and send me a re-instatement letter.
Turns out now that they have drained my escrow by more $6100 for the policy premium and now there is not enough money to pay my original company who is also looking for money.

So.....I have to wait for the new one to reimburse my mortgage company.
In the interim, I have to have the original one switched over to monthly payments, billed to the homeowner (me).
I have to pay that out of pocket ($4,000 divided by 10 = $400 per month) until the new one reimburses my mortgage company.
Then, I have to request my old one change over to billing the mortgage company.
Then, I have to request my old one reimburse ME the payments I made as the mortgage companies pay in one shot only.

CRAP!
This sucks!!!
There goes my cigar budget for the next couple of months.

Oh, forgot.........couple of storms brewing in the Atlantic. If I have another loss, my deductible is $7,500.

The crazy thing is there is always something to put things in perspective for you.
I typed this thread and then just moments ago, heard from my daughter concerned about my grandchild and waiting for the doctor to call back.
She is worried about the baby as he has uncharacteristically been sleeping all day, after sleeping all night and not taking milk.

That insurance crap I wrote is just that, crap. Gives me something to talk about and laugh at later on. Doesn't seem as big anymore.

My dad has always said, if money is your biggest problem, money comes and money goes.
How true.

Our place not to far from you got CREAMED by Wilma! Now, its a 5000.00 deductible on a condo of all things! Oh well, I guess that if I ever get transferred to the area, I will have to "adjust my expectations"!

I hear you with the Florida insurance.

The condo fee just went up $1500.00 a year due to insurance.

Florida is great but it cost a lot when you want to live on the water or near the coast.

As for all that banking mess. Policies are on auto pilot every year. The agent waited to long and the money went to the wrong place.


I hope all is well with the Grandkid and its nothing serious.

Yep, it's only money (although I might cry if I had a $7500 deductible). Hoping all is OK with the grandchild!

Price of living in Florida.
Freud's theory of projection applies here as at least I am not alone.
Many going through the same thing.
We just have to hope for a few quiet years and things can stabilize a bit.
The other positive thing is that our taxes are not as high as say in the Northeast so when you add taxes and insurance, equals the same as up there.

Insurance is incredible down there.

I may be in Miami on Monday Carlos.

The building were my condo is, they are thinking about raising the condo fee to $1100.00 a month to cover extra insurance expenses.

Its a dam concrete building !!
