I used to fix them, not worth it by what you describe....main power to picture tube holds 35,000 volts...don't go there. Put it back in the trash.

Re: Anybody know how to fix a TV?
I could explain it but you couldn't afford me.
![]() Today's TV technology and the low cost of a TV makes repair for almost all models less than a few a years old a thing of the past. Sadly, we consume and dispose. Now if your need help with a 25" vintage 1980 or earlier (tubes or transistors) I could get it going but still doubt I could talk you through it. As has already been said, "Danger Will Robinson" (See quotes from old TV show on Goggle if you don't know the reference.) When I see a 25" color TV at Walmart for $288 I know that the TV repair business is going the way of the dinosaur.

Re: Anybody know how to fix a TV?
Wow!
Glad I saw this thread. Does the same thing apply to a projection TV? I have one that was diagnosed as needing a board about five years ago. I left it in the living room that we never use as we are always in the family room and was recently thinking of seeing how much a board would run now and do it myself. I figured it should have gone down hopefully but certainly not worth dying over. |

Re: Anybody know how to fix a TV?
Tube TVs are pretty much disposable. You should not have any trouble betting a 20" for a little under $100 new. Or just look on sites like CraigsList for somone getting rid of a working TV for next to nothing because they upcraded to a Flat Panel.
Also be carebfulk about disposing the TV. Some cities require you to get a special permit or sticker to throw them away. You do not want to be accused of dumping.
