Trip to the east coast
Hello all,
I am new to the pipe forum and haven't been around much lately otherwise, but have a query for you. My wife and I are planning on a trip through a few states on the east coast. We are going into/through New York, Vermont, Mass, and finally Penn. I am planning on hitting Habana Premium in Albany, Cup O Joes in Queensbury, Pipeworks and Wilke in Montpelier and Boswell Pipes in Chambersburg. Are there any must see shops in Salem Mass, Vermont area, New York (outside NYC please), or Pennsylvania that I'm missing? Thanks, Tim.

Re: Trip to the east coast
i was in the cape cod, mass, and the burlington, vermont area, and the pickins in those liberally controlled states are slim to none due to the laws that have been passed. at least, that's what i've witnessed personally.
i'm sure there are some spots, somewhere. there was nothing in Burlington, VT, as i looked and scoured the phone lines and yellow pages.

Re: Trip to the east coast
That's kind of what I was afraid of. Thanks IHT. I'll still be allowed to smoke my cigars and pipes while walking around won't I?

i was in smaller areas, so if you go to the bigger cities, i can't help you there... burlington, VT and the cape cod area are pretty small (to me), and the most "liberal" areas i've been too. hell, i started eating granola, only drinking juices and i wanted to hug a tree and protest something simply because i didn't understand it... seriously, to me, being the type of person i am and grew up where i did, i would think that you'd be able to walk around outside and smoke a cigar or pipe. i wish i could give you better factual info, but i can't.

Re: Trip to the east coast
Thanks for the info gents.
IHT, it makes me kind of sad that the state is that way. It sounds like a beautiful place and initially we hoped that one day we could retire or move there. I don't know that I care to leave one liberal state for another possibly worse one. Thanks for the replies

Re: Trip to the east coast
Vermont was beautiful.
it reminded me a lot of southern Germany. rolling hills, some more mountainous, green vegetation, older communities that are still small. it was really nice. some of the army guys we worked with said that the problem is in the bigger cities, like Burlington, where the college kids are... cuz out in the country and smaller cities, it's still very conservative.

Re: Trip to the east coast
Also stop by park lane in clifton park.
The google directions are wrong though, but look it up on the yellow pages and give them a call. Pipe make Paul bonaquisti is an owner. I stopped there and at cupojoes just three weeks ago. Cupojoes has moved to a new storefront in the same little plaza and now has a kicking walk-in as well. |

Re: Trip to the east coast
The Red Lion Smoke Shop in Salem is worth a trip while you are there. Not the best selection of pipe stuff. But it is not a great shop. If you make it to Boston, L.J. Perretti's is a must visit for any pipe smoker!!!
