stanwell estate pipes

So I have been looking at two Stanwell estate pipes on Frenchy's site and I think I have found me a couple of nice pipes. I have been smokin a pipe since last December but have just recently been picking it up frequently, like smoking a bowl a day or every other day. I don't wanna burn out my no name briar pipe cause It has treated me well as my first pipe and for having mercy on my ignorance to the world of pipes. I figure adding two stanwells would be pretty nice since I have heard reliable things about them from you all. My question is would it be practical to get two Stanwell estate pipes to add to my no name briar and cob collection or would it be better to stick with getting a new Stanwell or going some other route entirely with a relatively cheap budget? (I don't like the idea of spending more than 60 bucks on one pipe) I figure if anyone could help me it would be you all and you already have helped me tremendously by just reading the forums. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Here are the links to the two pipes, and don't go picking them up from underneath me now, hah, please.

Re: stanwell estate pipes

Stanwells are nice pipes for the money, as many people here will tell you. There's nothing wrong with estate pipes, especially if you're ordering from frenchy. I say go for it!

Also, I dig that bulldog, good choice.

Re: stanwell estate pipes

I recently got a Stanwell estate billiard from Frenchy. Seen here
I have lots of nice briars, but, this is my first Stanwell. Mine is a good pipe and I've always had high regards for the brand. I've always heard good things from other Stanwell owners too. Plus, Frenchy gets those estate pipes back to really nice condition.

Personally, I would go with the two estate pipe route, especially from Frenchy. Later on, (when your budget gets a little bigger,) getting a nice new pipe is a real treat. Of course, you could always get two brand new Savinelli naturals for the price of the two estate Stanwells, but, those Stanwells look pretty nice.

Nothing wrong with estate stanwell. Specially the one coming from Frenchy. I bought a couple from him myself when I started. Go for the patent era Stanwell if he still has them. They were usually made from well aged briar.

Plus I got the best return policy in the business so if they ain't what ya' hoped ya' lose nothin'. I'd say do it!!!! But that'd be self serving. Aw what the hell, do it!!!!

Re: stanwell estate pipes

So I went ahead and took the jump for the two stanwell estate pipes. All I needed was a bit of provoking from the more experienced since I have never purchased an estate pipe. Sorry mad hatter for our first impression of each other is me buying a pipe that you liked. Thank you all for the advice and thank you frenchy for the soon to be nice pipes.

LOL I couldn't have bought it. I'm close to broke and the bills are due. I wouldn't do that to you anyway. Hope you enjoy it and welcome to our world.

Well, I got to looking through Frenchy's pipes tonight because of this thread and, even though the bills ARE, in fact, due, I bought an estate freehand pipe which I thought was a Stanwell that Frenchy told me is actually a Preben Holm second..... great looking pipe, so Egon, looks like we met under favorable conditions afterall. As it should be!
