lighting w/a zippo

started using my zippo to light my pipe (other than the charring light & when the bowl's almost cashed)-saw on another pipe forum where you can use a non pipe zippo if you pull the wick up level w/the top of the chimney-using the new fluid i don't taste it & get less tongue bite when lighting, probably cause the zippo doesn't get as hot-having one problem though, it's hard to get the edges lit, seems like no matter which way i hold it, the center always catches 1st-does this still happen w/the pipe zippos, or am i stuck using a bic?

Re: lighting w/a zippo

I have not had much luck using Zippo lighters. Some people swear by them, I just swear at them. I invested in 2 Old Boy lighters and haven't looked back.

Re: lighting w/a zippo

I used to use a Zippo pipe lighter but gave up on it as I HATED dealing with liquid lighter fluid.

I have since, replaced my Zippo pipe lighter insert with a Thunderbird butane pipe insert (http://www.tobacco-barn.com/p-7881-t...ector-kgm.aspx) and haven't looked back.

Not only is it easier to manage than liquid insert, but since it has a bit of "throw" to the flame I find that I can direct the flame to different parts of the bowl much easier than I could do with the old Zippo insert.

*Disclaimer* We also sell these but I truly believe in the product!
