perique Liqueur

Has anyone else heard of the perique liqueur? Its pretty self explanitory, a 62 proof liqueur made with St. James perique tobacco. You can read about it at http://www.slashfood.com/2007/03/01/...ueur-de-tabac/

The idea of drinking a tobacco flavored drink sounds like it would make you, but this stuff actually sounds good.

Hmm...At $45-$95 a bottle I'll have to take someone elses word for it, but it would be an interesting thing to try nontheless.

I loved that story, the thinking behind it sounds familiar.

I have made tinctures and extracts using alcohol from various plants and herbs many times and the process is not that dififficult given the particular solubility of the ingredients. The challenge would be to limit the toxicity, which I am sure the commercial product adresses. Drinking and eating tobacco has a long history of use as an shamanic inebriant and stimulant but can be fatal in high doses

I would imagine that the allure is in the heady aroma of this uniquely grown and processed tobacco. I would certainly give it a taste if given the opportunity.

The history and origins of the tobacco are worth learning about for the curious at heart.

LOL, thats awsome. That would give you a wicked nicotine buzz, burning tobacco destroys most of the nicotine, so this drink would have more nicotine then smoking the cigar. The liqueur sounds like it would have a better flavor, every thing that I have read about it has been good.
