I had several MOSs. I started in petroleum supply, got my heavy wheel driver tag, had great times as a Geneal's/Diplomat's driver, MP then spent my last few years waiting for my medical discharge in the Band.

They may have a decent pipe for the amount it may cost you to repair your broken pipe.

Your story reminds me of my Army experience a little bit. I tried smoking cigarettes.....really tried hard as the guys who smoked got more breaks than the guys who didn't. But everytime I lit up, I got sick.....really, really sick. Looking back, I'm glad that that happened.

But I did bring my pipe with me when I was deployed overseas. The only problem was that this was a time that the Army had a huge drug problem (early70's). During a surprise inspection my BC confiscated my Iwan Ries pipe, stating that it "could" be used to smoke hash out of. I was pissed as this was my first real pipe, and it was a nice one at that too.
So I stopped smoking pipes all together after that, and did not come back to pipe smoking until 30 years have passed.

Good luck with your pipe. If you still want to repair the one you have, LMK and I will link a couple of pipe repair services here for you.
That is the exact same reason I startet to smoke...the only way an aircraft fueler could get a break was to smoke. They do not want smokers anywhere near JP4

welcome to the pipe forum here.

btw - how in the hell did you find clubstogie for their pipe forum??
Just googling newbie info. The intention was to find a great community to help me get into pipe smoking, but I immagine this will probably lead to temptations to starting a good reserve of cigars as well.

Welcome, guys. And you're right...that IHT-fella is ONE SCARY BASTAGE!!! While I'm new to pipes too, Greg and I joined CS around the same time. In fact, I feel partially to blame for him being "the drunken guest that just won't leave". It seems that I was one of the main instigators that sent him ass-over-elbows down the Slippery Slope with JL2s (and others)!
Anyway, I'm not trying to jack your thread. Just wanted to echo the sentiment that there are A LOT of quality people on Club Stogie who are always willing to help. If it's anything like getting into cigars, take the advice & opinions of the guys that have been around, keeping in mind that testing & trying everything for yourself is what it's all about!
