Summer Tobacco
In the past couple months, I've been gravitating towards latakia blends for smoking outside in cooler weather. Before that I smoked aromatics, so my experience with tobacco is a bit limited.
I'm looking ahead now, though, to this summer. Does anyone have any blends they prefer in warmer months, something a bit lighter, but not too sickly sweet like I find some aromatics to be? |

Yeah I really think I am one of the few that don't like it.

Re: Summer Tobacco
If you're looking for something lighter, go for some Va or Va/Per blends come the summer time. Those are much more subtle in flavor than latakia, and will definitely not be overly sweet like an aromatic. There will be a nice subtle natural sweetness, and often kind of a "grassy" or hay-like taste/aroma.

Re: Summer Tobacco
I didn't get to smoke a ton last summer, but I can tell on the colder days this fall and winter, I preferred latakia or a very perique heavy vaper, while on the warmer days I'd go for a straight va or lighter vaper. Burley is good all the time in my opinion.

Re: Summer Tobacco
Yep, when I did smoke a pipe I smoked VAs and some vapers, but I actually smoked a lot more cigars than pipes in the summer. I did smoke a lot of Jubilee this summer as well.

Re: Summer Tobacco
Many people prefer English and Oriental blends in cooler weather. I am one of them, but that's not the case for everyone. The best way to know, is to simply try various blends, both in the summer months and the cooler months of winter. Eventually, you'll sort out what you enjoy!
For me, as I stated above, I prefer English and Oriental Blends (Latakia Based Blends) in the cooler months. In the warmer months, I tend to move toward Virginia Based and Burley Based Blends. The following are a few of my favorite warm weather blends. Pipeworks & Wilke - Nut Brown Burley (Bulk) an outstanding smoke! GL Pease - Barbary Coast (Tins) Outstanding! John Middleton - Walnut (12oz Tin) very cheap & very good! Dan Tobacco - Gordon Pym (Tin) This is exceptional warm weather smoke, offering Virginias, Orientals & a light touch of Syrian Latakia. |

I'm with those who suggested va's, the sweetness seems to go well with warmer weather in my opinion. Personally, my favorite blends are vapers, so I smoke them regardless of the weather.

yes, there are some ppl who smoke certain blends during specific seasons. i don't know why that is, they still taste the same. ![]() i smoke what i like, no matter what the weather. i don't think it's snowing inside my bowl, so it won't bother me if it's cold or hot out.

Re: Summer Tobacco
I smoke a lot va's and va/pers, I can't take much latakia unfortuantely. But yea, the MC grand orientals are kinda light and summery.
