Want another pipe (but have to get past my wife)
Okay guys... I need some help here...
I was at my local tobacconist (B&M) getting a few ounces of Buttered Rum. While the clerk was getting the tobacco for me, I went over to the display rack and saw this pipe: This is a Stanwell pipe. I made the mistake of picking it up and holding it. This pipe was so nice and so well balanced. I mean, it spoke to me!  I need ideas on how to buy this pipe without getting my wife all angry and wanting to kick my a$$. I thought of buying it and then saying something like "but the guys on Club Stogie told me I should buy it!" - then thinking that there is safety in numbers, she might understand. Suggestions? |

Are you a man or a mouse? Great looking pipe, but I've got issues with Stanwell.

Yeah... what's wrong with Stanwell? This was a great looking pipe!
If you guys don't know, I am the man of the house, but my wife rules the check book and is tight with money. I'm one of those guys who gets an allowance...  Maybe I'll just go out and buy it and find some unsuspecting person on here to blame it on!!! |

Just tell her you where going to buy a Dunhill, but suddenly all those talks you had with her about finally growing up and excepting your responsibilities sprang quickly to mind and you thought the best thing to do was just settle for an old, solid, modestly priced Stanwell. Then take out the garbage...while mumbling..."you see darling, I CAN change".

If you don't need it immediately and the wife would notice the money missing start saving change and hoarding the occasional couple of bucks. I work at a car lot and clean used cars. Whatever change I find in them goes straight into my tobacco fund and you wouldn't believe it but it doesn't take that long to build up a supply of cash even from just the change that one accumulates throughout the day. Just a little patience is required.

I just started looking at pipes myself and don't know a lot about them but that one is sharp looking. I was lucky my Dad gifted me his small collection of 3 even though I've never used them as of yet I'm looking foward to the plunge.You can always tell the wife that it was Homeless it's worked for me with cigars and I'm thinking about it for my first pipe I purchase.

Everyone and their mate is none of my freaking buisness....period. Anyone that doesn't know that the Vagina is mightier then the Pen & the sword needs to learn.........lmfao How much is it? It's not like your buying a $400.00 DunHill or some Lavish Pipe! Good luck brother. You need to get a Legal & Morale online buisness going that goes directly into a Swiss Bank account.... . The Swiss will rat you out to the US Federal Government nowdays but not your wife/

I have always like the way that line of stanwells looked with the wood accent etc. I had a couple of stannys and they were all good smokers. That was before my collection turned to italians and english.
When I was married, I always compared it to my wifes fetish for aquiring new shoes. So my suggestion would be that you get the pipe and she gets shoes. Make a trade. Keep in mind that my wife and I are currently separated, so I may not be the best guy to take advice from |

Tell her she should be proud of you cuz you were actually gonna buy TWO pipes but only bought one instead cuz you were thinking of her!
Nice looking pipe by the way - I love bulldogs! Personally I like Stanwells - I have 3 of them and have had no probs with them. In fact they're among my fav's.
