Even with the series tied I agree the Wings will probably still take it. Notice however the fatigue factor making its rounds among your team right now. Clearly not enough to dislodge them from their throne, but still, the fist signs of a by gone era is now among us and the road downhill is beginning. FYI The Coach is Canadian! |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Just joined today so I guess I should introduce myself.
I've been a cigarette smoker since about 1958 or 59 in high school with an occasional foray into Swisher Sweet and Mississippi Crook cigars ('cause it was cool back then). If memory hasn't't failed me, I think there was also a little experimentation with either Dr. Garbo or Kaywoodie pipes, but that was short lived. When cigarette prices doubled here in California a few months ago I decided I had to do something different. I went to the only pipe shop I knew of in this area and bought a pipe and tobacco and a few accessories. I was not too happy with their selection of pipes or tobacco so I started checking out the NET. One of the on-line shops I visited had a link to here, so here I am. I've been lurking for a few days and like what I see. I'm looking forward to reading through the old posts to catch up and see if my swollen tong ever gets better. Hugh |

If you get fatigue factor - you know, like the Red Wings after the 5-0 game Saturday night; I mean, they looked worn out and could hardly get off any shots on goal in the last 20-seconds of the game - from your pipe we'll be here with great ideas about the next tobak to reopen your eyes and put some more spring in your step.

![]() We are talking about different things here my friend. I said the Wings were still gonna win it. Implying that....They Were Still Gonna Win It!!! I was talking about a greater picture. Taking (literally) the next few years into account. And it still stands. Looking at the way they have been spent, several times over the course of this years run, it seems clear to me, that these Wings and their Dynasty like years, are reaching their peak. That, combined with the insane like salaries with insane like years attached to them, altogether point to not too good of an investment for the near future. That is all. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Bran' spankin' newbie. Came here via a few nice cigars -- then won a sample of pipe tobacco, so had to get myself a corn cob.
And I *liked* it. Pipes have even more minutiae than cigars--and you know how men just *love* that stuff (baseball stats, coin collecting, history/ritual of freemasonry, wine, scotch, cigars... and pipe!). Collecting/interacting is at *least* as pleasant as pipe smoking itself. In any case: I am lucky to be located near Boston's legendary LJ Peretti (the lone survivor of a proud era), even though it seems to be mostly serving cigar smokers during the day. While cigar guys don't mind pipe smoke, the reverse is not always the same (and this from someone who enjoys the occasional cigar!). |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Hey guys,
I've been lurking these forums for quite awhile and decided to sign up the other day. I smoked a pipe back in college around 4 years or so ago, but only sparingly until someone stole it (cheapy Dr. Grabow so no big loss) and I never bothered replacing it. Last week I decided to start back and bought an estate pipe off ebay and placed an order from 4noggins with a cob and the necassary tools. This forum is filled with plenty of information that I'm sure will help me out along my way, so a pre-emptive thanks to all of you. -Andrew |

Welcome to the new members, great place here.
Red Wings, well they come and they go. I've been watching them since the old days. Some great talent on some of the newer teams so time will tell of course

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Hello everyone!
Just got my first pipe this past weekend while down in Gatlinburg from The Gatlinburlier. Went in to buy some cigars and left with a pipe and some tobacco instead! bought a basic briar pipe and some tobacco that they recommended. I have enjoyed a few smokes so far and am still working on filling the pipe correctly, just don't have it right just yet, but I keep trying which keeps me smoking. Still will be smoking cigars, but right now the pipe has taken a hold of me. lookng forward to learning a lot from all of you people. Matt |
