Taxes are a killer in Canada. But you can get a lot more enjoyment per Looney out of a pipe than you can from a cigar.

I'm ashamed to admit I don't know who the MacDonald is that the bridge was named after! Though it's gotta be a cool feeling to have a bridge named after a relative!

Well, I guess the bridge had become a such popular place for leapers that they put a fence over the section that goes over the Navy Base so they would not land on the Navy personnel

My Uncle was the Premier of NS for about 15 years. He had a lot to do with extending the infrastructure to the rural areas. He is a big deal on Cape Breton Island.

I hear ya brother!

Apparently, I am a preternaturally old man, regressing in time to the mid '50s. Young ladies come up to me thanking me (well, my pipe anyway) for reminding them of their grandpa.

Have no idea what I'mma doin', but I love the smell et al. of me pipes!

And I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm big into cigars and have been for a little bit, very much enjoy them. Love the smell and pretty much the tastes I've been getting from the pipe. Although I'm pretty sure I need to get some pipe cleaners, rather than just trying to clean it with paper towels. I smell resin...and I taste it. :vomits:

Anyhow. Hello.

Hello All,
I'm new to this forum but an old hand at cigars and pipes. After a long hiatus from pipe smoking I am back to enjoying wonderful blends and pipe rituals.

Trying, somewhat unsuccessfully, to stay away from ebay pipe bidding. Is there a 12 step program that can help?

Hello hello,

I've been lurking on this forum for about two weeks and am very excited to now be a member. I picked up pipe smoking last winter, but I am only really getting into it now. So far I feel like I have taught myself the basics but need some guidance to delve further into this world of pipe smoking; this seemed the place to go.

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)

Howdy. I'm one of those returnees to the pipe, having given it up back in '78 after the Great Gourd Calabash Tragedy. Don't ask.

I was hopping around on the net and discovered this place, it looked friendly, so here I am. I live with a cat who doesn't complain about the smoke, only the food and the litter box, so it's cool. As long as I've got my books, pipes, cat, and jazz, I'm okay...

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)

Ok guys, I think I am getting more interested in pipes. I have been reading some and I think I am about ready to take the plunge down this slope. I probably won't be able to really get into it until the fall (limited funds at this time) but I have been and will be reading the threads here to try and get a head start on my learning.

I am sure that I will have plenty of questions about pipe related things even though it looks like almost any question I coud ask has been answered already.

Lookin forward to getting to know you guys better down here (yes even you Greg )

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)

Pipe smoking is really weird.
Before I started seriously about 2 months ago, pipes didn't really appeal to me much.
Now that I smoke pipes primarily, cigars don't appeal quite as much as they used to.
Don't get me wrong, I still love both. I just don't crave cigars as often as I used to.

Hopefully pipes don't ruin cigars for you!
Anyway welcome!

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)

from the "new puffer fish" area of the site (which i just posted, just cross-posting here)...

Quote:
hello.

my name is brett and i've been enjoying cigars since college (early 90s) and pipes since 1995.

i've had some bad experiences with some dealers (none currently local) and really developed a taste for tinderbox blends of pipe tobacco and their opportunity to see and smell cigars before purchasing.

i know that many don't care for acid or drew estate cigars, but i find them a relaxing accessory to a frustrating but fun round of golf.

almost all of my pipes are aldo velani, which i love. and my new humidor is a 300-count monster which i have yet to stock fully.

good to finally find this place!
